Ultra Red 200 Cup FF

I hope you've reconsidered selling now you've had all this work done Eddie! Would be a shame now, car is a credit to you.

Haha I have my thoughts about selling and buying a family car/estate but I’m keen to keep the Clio. If I can upgrade the other half’s car to something a little bigger then the Clio will stay .

You gutted yours is away? Found a suitable replacement?

Not really to be honest! I was sick and tired of it driving round Birmingham and felt it was time for a change up. Will PM you, don't want to clog this thread up!

Ha ha! Amy understands! She knows her Juke (is that still what it is?) doesn't cut the mustard! Her man needs an example of the best naturally aspirated hot hatch ever produced, and he has an excellent example of that! The Juke should be replaced by an Octavia VRs estate or similar. You Know It Makes Sense!

You aren’t far of the mark with your recommendation lol! The VRs is very high up the list - such a great all rounder. I became very fond of them in my brief time working for Skoda. It’s difficult to persuade Amy to drive an estate car - she sees them as a mans car lol. I can also get a cracking deal on an Arteon R Line or Tiguan through work so those are options aswell. Will get the house move over us first and then look to change .

Oh Yeah! Sounds like she is on the same page! Keep the Clio & replace Amy's car with one of the above.

So bad luck strikes again for the Clio and yet again I’m questioning the future of the car.

Fortunately for me none of the issues or bad luck I’ve had with this car have been mechanical, all cosmetic.

I came across this damage today when cleaning the car. It looks like some inconsiderate rat has opened a door or something onto the passenger door and damaged the paint. It caught my eye as the car was dirty but the dirt was smudged around the damaged area - meaning that whoever damaged the door has known about it but no note was left. Sickens me as the damaged is more nasty than photos pick up and there is a considerable dent too :worried:

What next? I do feel as though I’m losing heart in the car. Just bad luck upon bad luck.

I think you’d be silly to get rid for something like that. £50 smart repair would sort that out no problem...!

I’m a fussy man and have always completely dismissed smart repairs! I will probably calm down again in a few days. Thing that annoys me more is someone knows they done it but no decency to leave a note etc.

I know where you’re coming from but a lot now offer lifetime warranty! And with technological advancement, paint matching is pretty much bang on from the examples I’ve seen first hand!

Other people are the worst. My new toy needs a few bits looked at, but tight spaces at work leave me wondering if there’s much point. Not as bad as the clio by a long way!

It’s something I should maybe look into then. I do have a Chipex touch up and have touched some small stone chips up with it and the match is excellent.

Did you pick the car up then? They certainly are but I really need this fixed, it feels like a Cat C to me lol. I almost abandoned washing the car when I seen it!

Yeah there’s some very decent ones out there, obviously a few to stay away from too...

Got back from Liverpool a couple hours ago. It drives brilliantly and I FINALLY mugged off a Fiesta ST driver today, well pleased!!! Will go hunting for a good photo location tomorrow..

Yeah Eddie it's a bummer but sh*t happens. Don't fall out of love with the car over this! C'mon if Amy fell & bruised herself that would make no difference. (Extreme comparison I admit!) You have a lovely example of the car. Treat it like your woman. You know it makes sense!
If you change the car & park in the supermarket car park this is going to happen again so stick with the Clio. Please!

I like the analogy Jon! I’m sure I’ll be grand after a day or two, just can’t catch a break it seems! Hope things are good with you and the good lady!

So so tbh! She had eye surgery a couple of weeks ago. Also back in the spring. Previously operated eye had regained fairly good sight. Had op on second eye & everything was fine. 2 days later completely lost sight in original eye. Won't get sight in second eye for a month or 3. Going from completely blind to being able to see stuff like car number plates & then back to 20% vision daily. Changes throughout the day. Scary stuff & I feel useless as can't change the situation only encourage her. I truly believe we'll get to the bottom of this & get over it but Glenda is not so sure. Understandable as she's the one going through it!
Btw, not looking for sympathy! Just responding to the comment as I know you're aware that stuff has been happening.

Ah that is awful mate. I hope they do get to the bottom of it. I remember reading about the first op earlier on this year and thinking how difficult it must be. As a petrolhead, the loss of sight (and subsequently not being able to drive) would be my worst nightmare.

The fact that there are good days and bad days, and even good periods and bad periods throughout the day, would be very scary but difficult to imagine at the same time! I have my fingers crossed for you guys!!

So there is a viewer coming to look at the car on Saturday. I haven’t advertised the car but the fact I’ve been making noises about parting ways with it for quite some time has alerted this guy and he is interested in the car. I don’t feel I ever gelled with this Clio properly.

I’ll update the thread if the stays (or goes) with updates. Meanwhile, the likes of the OZ Alleggeritas, KTR Inducation kit and Akrapovic are all up for grabs (Ultras are provisionally sold already also).

I can’t say for sure but if the Clio goes it might also be the end of French hot hatch’s for me. I do like the thoughts of something Jap with a K20 in it, but I’m also really keen on returning to a Meg 265. I only sold my last one as it had turned into an ornament as I got a company car and wasn’t getting driven and enjoyed like it should (circa 40 miles per month). I enjoyed several track days in it and know if I bought another I would do the same.

Anyhow, updates to follow!
