My deep black 197.. and a little product plug!

Looks great bud! You wont regret the Recaros, one of my favourite parts of my 197.

I did consider the Silverstone alloys but read they were heavier than stock 197/200 alloys. Though I have also read that the 200 alloys are lighter than the 197s too.

Yeah think I read the standard 197 are 10.1kg and Laguna wheels 10.7kg so heavier but not a huge difference, I just like the way they sit and they're cheap enough so figured it's easier to have a set of wheels with summer/track tyres and another set for the majority of the year (wet)

Just got to get them resprayed, they're currently blue lol

Its not a lot heavier. And Id hope they are a bit tougher too!

UPDATE...

So I've bought and fitted my Clio 200 Recaros, very happy with them, to me they change the feel of the car inside, I feel like I'm in a much sportier car than I was this morning lol

Pics.. (Excuse the state of my car, yes it needs a clean inside and I spilt drink on my seat driving back, so also need to clean them already.. :disappointed:)

I also picked up a steering wheel from the guy at the same time, which matches the seat trim, it's been retrimmed in alcantra and he replaced it with a sparco, very happy with this little bonus purchase, and another tick off the list of things to do with my car, piece by piece it's coming together!

No issues with dash lights?
Yeah I do at the moment, only downfall!.. I tried the resistors and I've either not done it right, or it hasn't worked so going to give them another try, failing that I've been told anyone with a clip or rstuner can disable those bags, so going to call a few local non main dealer Renault garages on Monday!

Did you use the guide in the how to?

I did yeah, the thing I couldn't really get my head around from the guide was how to keep the wires firmly secured in the plug, so I think that's where my problem lies, going to have to give it another look!

Well by the looks of it they were taped in, and the resistors soldered on.

Sorry, what I meant was the ones I bought, the resistors are already soldered onto the wires, however the the wires don't seem to actually push in and secure tightly within the connector plug, so presumably I've got a crap connection and it's failed!

Oh - strange!

So today, I fitted the wheel...
It's true, those little springs that hold the airbag in really are a pain!

Happy with this 'modification' if you can call it that though!

Probably too early to say, but if you had the choice would you choose different materials or stick with the full alcantara?

I'm thinking of getting mine done at royal steeringwheels and just wondering what you think? I would worry the alcantara would be hard to clean and doesn't look right when next to the noticeably cheaper looking 'fake' leather in the center.

Like you say, only been in a few hours so too early for me to say, but I really like it, feels great, and whilst in pics it maybe looks a bit of a contrast against the airbag cover when you look at the interior as a whole, it certainly doesn't stand out as being out of place and def a big improvement in terms of looks and feel over the standard, I actually like the smooth matt look of alcantra, and my standard had gone really shiny and started melting/flaking a little as they typically do so was bleurgh lol

I was thinking of going with something like this:

But then the full leather ones also look really nice...

I'm kinda trying to keep my car OEM+ as such, the leather is slightly more attractive atm...

Both look really nice mate, tbh don't think you can go wrong with any steering wheel retrim on these, or you'd be hard pushed, maybe they looked nice brand new, but Renault got it wrong with the quality of these (or very right for any retrim company lol)

It's really just whatever floats your goat!

Barney, I am thinking the same. If it was a weekend toy maybe alcantara. I often have dirty hands so it wouldn't stay nice for long. The 2nd pic you put up is the kinda thing I am thinking. I almost considered getting the perforated leather at the top and bottom instead of the sides to keep it cleaner for longer but I think this may look odd.
