Tractor Boy

Up far too early. No breakfast and no where here to get any other than the café opposite who don't take cards and I have no cash... awesome day!

Indian Country in that cafe.

Breakfast was good from memory though !

Ha ha yes. Surreal in the waiting room listening to your car though isn't it

Have fun buddy.

Sandwich isn't great but my god I feel better for having food in me.

First time I've heard the car from outside. LOVED it. Really does sound SO good!

Itching to drive it now.

Nice to have the added bonus of listening to how good your car sounds while it's getting fettled and put right by the gents in the know! Glad that things are sorted out for you, Mes, hopefully you can enjoy the car as much as possible now.

So the map was something put on before you bought it??

Is there really a cafe opposite?
I sat there starving last time!!

Fried-food Novice :tonguewink:

Dead opposite Ben. Small place with a weird undercover but outside 'eating area'. Brekkie me and the old chap had was ace though.

I missed the bit about 'old crappy map' earlier at work Mes. That's great news in effect. If it was possibly on an even worse set up for you at this point than a standard map - the benefits and improvements could be huge(er):sunglasses:

Really looking forward to your thoughts buddy........

glad all is sorted Mes..what was the issue then??just the map??if so im glad it wasnt any mechanical failures or such..
what the update??c'mon..pull your finger out, dont let us hanging here..:excited:

Thanks lads.

Well, first things first. We've gained a few horses, gained a LOT of low down torque and as you'd expect, everything feels a lot smoother and freer and all round better.

Definitely an improvement.

So, the car had a map on that was done during previous ownership. It was a stock generic loonball of a thing and was absolutely all over the place. ESPECIALLY fuelling.

Andy was fully confident he got to the bottom of the problems and assured me I'm good to go now. Power and torque graphs are a definite improvement. Fuel graph is just massively better.

What a top bloke he is. Talked me through absolutely everything and I got the impression if I knew what I was talking about a bit more he'd have been happy to fully geek out.

Oh and he sorted out the wipers too.

And to make it all better, awesome September discount!

Came away VERY happy.

Time to focus on the interior.

Haha... I got the impression he was watering it down for me as well:grinning:

Great news the cars back to health. Long may it continue

Chuffed to bits for you Mes....

The eagerness low-down and the need to stir the gearbox less is what made and makes the mapping for me.

You sound pretty made up ? All you expected ?

And GREAT to hear now this is 'mission successful' ; you're looking to move on to the next 'mini-project' already !

Brilliant stuff all-round :excited:

My understanding is basic but most of it makes sense. Within five minutes I was well out of my depth

Thanks Ben. Pretty happy!

I actually like that you have to work the engine to really get it singing. It's one of the things that really makes the car for me. (I just would prefer to do it with paddles! ) But yeah, the low down performance is significantly better. Sixth on the motorway is completely different but when on a run in the country, I tend to drive it quite rev happy anyway.

Definitely made up. I mean, I expected the slight performance enhancement, but the real bonus of the day is a clean bill of health. I'll be honest, it took me a while to reply to this thread with my report as I forgot was that Mrs M had left 2 x crates of 24 beers in the back since I drove it last. So I did my initial test on the way back (some VERY good roads between there and home) and then remembered the car was full of beer, so had to empty it out and go out for another drive.

AWESOME.

And yeah... "mini project" my arse, I know you know!

happy days Mes..couldnt be happier for you..nothing better than a car that drives the way it should..hope there are no more niggles and you and your missus can enjoy the tractor to its full potential...:thumb:

YES ! 60mph or so in 6th and floor it to squirt past the car in front is a completely different proposition to a non-mapped car......

The only **good thing about my recent ‘mini-project’ was I only had me to please and no-one else to confer with and confuse me. You have a harder job in that respect ! If you’d have started chucking other bright ideas into the pot I’d have been screwed....:flushed:

Did Tractor have any cold-start / kangarooing issues ? You should find they’ve hugely improved if not all but disappeared.

Wouldn’t be surprised if you see more MPG too...

Winner !

Thanks mate. I INSTANTLY felt better driving it. Both actually and in my head.

Never nice driving a car you're not sure is performing correctly. Much happier.

Yeah, was the motorway where I felt it most.

To be fair, the car was always reasonably well behaved from cold start. Of course you have to be gentle for a while but it was never as bad as I hear described often on here. Maybe the crap map had sorted that. It did sod all else mind you...

MPG is something I'm hoping to see an improvement in. It's been surprisingly poor. Was planning to keep my eye on that!

Interior... I'm really hopeful we're almost there. There are a couple of things she needs to see a mock up of to be convinced.

Before we push the button I wouldn't mind having a look at your leather in the flesh too mate. Must admit, I'm really swaying towards the grey!

The trouble with photo’s and showing them here is getting the right representation of the look / contrast / match / how they ‘fit in’.

More than happy to try getting a couple of minutes video at the weekend and sending to you ?

Could even follow that with sending you a piece of the leather I have left if that would help at all and enable you to compare film to reality ?

PM me if I can help in any way / telling me what I can do that would help you make a decision.
