DIY Alcantara Retrim

Following on from Harry_197's thread, I had a go at retrimming some interior parts in Alcantara. So far I've done the A pillars, vent surround and clock surround (with some UR top stitch :tongue_smilie:smile:. Obviously not up to professional standards of Edge Automotive and the like, but for £15 and a bit of patience I'm quite please with how they turned out!

Next steps may be the triangular trim by the A pillars, or may add some stitching to the dash strips... Easy to go overboard on this stuff! First I'm going to see how this material reacts to the sunlight (if we ever get any) and go from there.

Thats really not a bad effort mate, well done!

Cheers man!

Where did you get the material from and is it just spray adhesive ?

eBay for the material - if you search for 'alcantara suede' it's the third result (with a picture of a Lamborghini interior). I used some permanent spray adhesive I had left over from Hobbycraft, but any strong spray adhesive should do the same.

Like it, seriously making me thinking about doing mine!

How easy is it to get the A-pillars off?

Unclip at the top, then slide/pull upwards, hard! Struggled at first but easy once you know how. Really easy to cover in the material though!

Good effort man you did well! Red stitchings a bit too much for me but good job mate. I fancy doing the headlining next!

Cheers man. I don't think it's as tidy as yours - I'll probably re-do some bits at some point. Headlining is a major job! Would look great though.

Resurrection of an old thread, but how do you remove the air vent surrounds?
Bit of plastic (trim removal tool or screwdriver with cloth) to put between vent and dash and just lever out. Once you can get to the edge just pull. Vent surround and vent will come out together, you can unclip the surrounds once vents are out.
