Yiannis' Albi Blue R27 - Toning down...

Mark Fish worth his mustard?

Ive just fitted the KWs and am looking for somewhere to do the alignment and setup and give it a once over before my trip.

Marshall, without a shadow of doubt, yes mate, take your car to him. When it comes to setting up a car he is unbeatable. He and his team(s) haven't won more than 16 championships out of luck that's for sure!

Booked in with Mark this morning to have a look over the installation of the KWs, quick check of the knock Renault never managed to source, hopefully put a washer under the top mount nut to stop it knocking, setup the KWs and do the alignment

You won't be disappointed mate. The guy is a star, he does know his stuff big time and always willing to discuss with you in detail whatever you want to ask. When are you going over? If I'm not working I could pop by for a cup of coffee:smile:

Would you say the air intake is a must have mod?

lovely car by the way ;-)

Thanks jmax. Tbh I couldn't make a decision whether to get it or not, this open cone filter just wouldn't do it for me, I eventually decided to take the plunge and if I didn't like it I'd sell it straight away. However I AM loving it, it's worth its money only for the sound alone! We, N/A boys haven't got power so we at least have to enjoy what we have, induction noise ha! I'd do it again without thinking twice.

Tuesday 3rd September.....however ive just had an email saying ive been put on a course so ill have to phone him to rearrange. Probs be the day after, Wednesday, 1pm.

Damn, I'm working that day (I'm on shift).

Oh well say hi from me mate and let me know how the car feels afterwards.

Thats really not what I wanted to hear, I'm trying me best to save and you're really not making it easy for me lol.

So how much did Mark actually change the setup of the coilovers etc? I've been to mark a few times and think he's great but he's very expensive IMO

£60 + VAT an hour.

He recons 1-2 hours to do alignment and setup of my KWs aswell as look into the top mounts knocking. Didnt think thats too bad but atleast it is going to a guy that knows his ****.

Id rather pay that than £40 just to have the alignment done by some monkey that doesnt even know what setting to put in his machine.

Yeap that's his rate. I'd have to agree with Marshall on this one, when it comes to setting up etc I'd rather pay a bit extra and do the job properly. His diagnostic skills are excellent as well, he managed to find a knock on my car when people tried and failed.

However, I wouldn't go to Mark for simple jobs like service or anything mechanical that can be done to the local garage (like for example replacing the ball joints that I did recently!!) because he is expensive indeed. Every single quote I had from him for jobs like replacing brakes, or fitting ARP rods or whatever was on the range of 30-40% higher than other specialists! And on top of that, he charges you extra if you want to use credit card!

But again, when it comes to setting up a car I wouldn't look elsewhere.

It's just that I got a quote from him in the past to align and setup my coilovers and seem to remember it was in the £200-£300 area which was just too much IMO. But if it's £144 inc. (2 hours) that's not too bad. I had a quote to fit braided lines in the past and it was also very high, fitted them myself and it can't have been much more than 30 mins work after the wheels are off

hi yianni  perfect upgrades  can i ask you what for is that cable conection between these two red cyrcles i draw ? because ive got there cable and connected to each other and you not. so what for are these things ? View attachment 7111

It must be something to do with the additional air intake which is normally to the right side of the engine bay, which Yiannis has removed because he has the KTR induction kit

As he has fitted the induction kit the acoustic valve is no longer needed. So you just put a bung on the throttle body.
