Shuv's Racing Blue 200...................

My mechanic's first two words to me when I picked it up - complete ballache. Love it!

Don't think he'd be willing to do a brake service for me for that price though!!!

Nice to know they've had to work for it and you've challenged them mentally

I don't honestly know what that was all about. I'm positive when he did it after i first bought the car (Purchased with brakes knowingly shocking) it was between £130 and £160 from memory. Maybe it's some recompense for messing my boy about recently, or the 'saga' i had with the gearbox oil leak after they damaged a seal perhaps.....

Either way; i was somewhat surprised ! We all need that now and again though hey. Usually it's doom and gloom ref garages isn't it, and it's some costly part, or its hard to fit, or the parts aren't available. It's not often the bill is like 1/4 of what you perhaps expected.

Confused but grateful !

****Topic cleaned of recent and completely off-topic posts. I know i'm easy-going and this thread is generally 'chatty' - but there does come a point.

I fully admit to 'spamming' many threads. But i do try to avoid it on people's personal progress threads.

Thanks for the understanding.

Peeing down all morning here; so any 'me-time' on the Clio was spent in the garage only today. Which with the radio on and a flow of drinks and sweets - i have no issues with at all :thumb:

Two of the LED interior bulbs have been flickering slightly for a while - so they were duly binned and swapped for fresh-ones:

And during the week i bought some black plastic nut covers in a wide selection of sizes to cover up just a few of the bolt-heads under the bonnet; that i felt would look better / contrast better in black. You probably cant even notice the difference on camera; but i think it's a little better visually now. Without being in your face or tacky

While i was under the hood i also took the opportunity to have a pretty good clean-up (Ok - a little flick over with a feather duster) and clean the PCV valve. Again. Especially after my findings last time around when this was the 'Hot topic'....and which some of you may well remember !!!

Thankfully this time around it was completely clean and didn't look like a 14 year old schoolboys pants after discovering Porn on the internet....... :thumb:

I then thought i might fit some 197/200.net decals in the rear quarter windows. I bought some in Silver originally - but they were "too much" visuallly. So i then re-ordered in Black. Think i'll do them outside tomorrow now though; as the garage is a little cramped for that. Also thought i might put a small Recaro and maybe the RENAULT sport one on my passenger seat-base (?) We'll see if it lasts or gets peeled straight off again.........

Speaking of decals i do have....er....quite a few. I just flucking love stickers :sunglasses: This was the small envelope marked "Renault". Think i might have a problem as there was 10 or so other envelopes with it....

So nothing major / ground-breaking by any stretch of the imagination.......just a few small jobs done; and as-ever: If you're doing nothing ; you're going backwards !

Have a great weekend chaps and chappess's :french:

I thought I was hoarding my Renault related stickers ready for a good decontamination before Trax! My paint is like sandpaper at the moment it's disgusting..

Safe to say I'm nowhere near your level on decal numbers Shuv!

P.S. What would you recommend for a rookie like me to get started with tidying my paintwork up? Shampoo..clay bar/mitt..wax of some description..you are of course the cleaning GOD so I thought I'd ask you..I can order some things for next weekend then and fingers crossed have ten working digits!:excited:

If you don't want to go bananas buddy @Benno996 (And do it yourself with good results) and without machine polishing etc then:

1/. 'Iron out / Iron X' etc to decontaminate paintwork.

2/. Medium grade Clay Bar and lube to remove further embedded contaminants / provide optical clarity and further makes sure you're not then going to then polish abrasive particles into the paintwork....

3/. Autoglym SRP polish. Still a great product. And as it contains fillers etc - you don't have to get every single small imperfection out to end up looking great.

4/. Wax / LSP etc. Do your research for your colour / longevity / what you're looking for in a top-coat.... ie: Colinite for less gloss look (perhaps) but great longevity (Ideal pre-winter ?) or a more carnuba based show wax for more depth of gloss and shine: but will likely not last as long.
Either way go with 2 thinly applied coats. If nothing else to ensure complete coverage.

5/. A decent QD spray for further weekly protection and to perhaps have that as your sacrificial layer. I use after every wash if possible. Only a 1/2 hour job and not essential to be done that often as most will last 1/2 dozen washes easily. Just further protects your paint after putting the effort in to look good.

Those fairly 'normal' stages will give a great look and continued protection

Have fun !!!

You're a star. I'm already a big fan of AG SRP so I must be doing something half right!! I've just spent about £90 on eBay, got a new Gtechniq wash mitt too whilst I was thinking about it. Gone for the Collinite 845, been looking at it previously but seems like it could be the best one for me, especially if it does get parked up and neglected for the winter..

Maybe, just maybe, one day my car may look half as good as yours. :excited:

I'm almost jealous yours is 'in need' now. Just love improving something !

You at it next week then ?

Fingers crossed bandage comes off the finger on Tuesday and I'm just left with a few Steri-strips..then I can get stuck in one dry evening when I finish work and really sort it out...the people doing the calipers are detailers and it makes me feel a bit ill turning up in a filthy car. Haven't got many 'clean' photos on my thread so I really want to pull my finger out (pardon the pun....) and get it really looking good!

I have a fair few of their cutting and polishing compounds for my DA and I'm happy with them. Can't compare them to anything else as I've not tried them but so far, so good.
I'm yet to polish the clio due to weather and other commitments but I think it'll wait til next year now.

Weather forecast was shocking here until midday; and for the start of the week. So i had an unusual lay-in as i had no plans for wasting my time cleaning the outside only for it to look a state by 7.00am at work Monday......

On getting up to a little of the wet-stuff - it then turned into and stayed a lovely day :unamused:

So - while the sun was out i wheeled the old girl outside and had a good clean up, hoover / detail inside and got rid of a bit of mess after seat fitting, airbag sorting etc earlier this week.

Had a play around with some decals on the passenger seat-base. And settled on the one pictured. Much to Micah's disgust im sure......:sunglasses:
