Gearbox Reconditioning Midlands??

I mentioned this "upgrading" of the old box after the issues to my Service Manager and the look he gave me suggested that they havent touched them :/

Is the single piece syncros the reason for tighter more notchy gear changes compared to the first box i had?

Thing is, why would he know? Renault still haven't really admitted there was or is a fault of any kind and if they want to keep it quiet they'd hardly make a dealer wide announcement.
It's unlikely a dealer would every strip a box either isn't it so they'd never see the internals.

It seems going from a lot of peoples dealings with RUK that even they have no idea and the whole thing is being kept VERY quiet.

Most dealers would have to tools to rebuild a box, that's why Renault just send a reconditioned box. Otherwise they would have to pay for them sending to a gearbox specialist.

Thanks, looks like the rebuild is the option, cannot get through to Agency at the moment but will give feedback if positive!

Lets face it, if Renault did change a part in the internals of the gearbox surely that would them admitting there was a problem and open the flood gates?

I have not seen any solid prof of this claim so it wouldn't surprise me if it was someone working for RUK who spread the rumour about the internals being changed to play down the problem.

Yes I am very cynical :tongueout:

most makers get out of the situation by having in the small print "specifications change due to continuos inprovement"...
