Dealer Service - Harratts Wakefield

Sorry Adrian! Yeah I have had my opinion changed.

I am sure you will be fine just make sure you tell them what they need to do. No belts need doing this time that is at 5 yearand one I aren't looking forward to lol!

I always ask if the mechanics are on bonus and always state that the car will be checked over afterwards for shortcuts, broken clips etc.

The horror stories I have heard from varied dealerships over the years has made me like I am. No doubt I sound like a nutcase to the service person behind the desk but these sort of things happen all the time.

It drives me to despair.

Its not just Renault though, it happens all the way up the ladder too. Porsche included........

Yeah I can imagine it does! I have heard horror stories form people at work who own nice cars S5, Porsche, M series BMW's etc, they all have crap experience at the dealers in and out of warranty. I really don't understand how hard it is to get customer service right. Having spent the first 3 years of my working life in a 5* hotel I understand the value of accepting responsibility when things go wrong - it is impossible to be right 100% of the time. All that most people want is reassurance that it will be put right, not lies!

Oh and there has been an additional **** up that I forgot to mention. as it was the 4 year service the MOT was also due, I wasn't given the certificate stating that it had been undertaken and passed! I also wasn't told it had passed on reflection I could have ended up driving home in an illegal car as the guy who gave my keys back didn't give me the paperwork - therefore didn't know if it was pass or fail!

Think Si's recommendation is spot on - go to Harratts Ponte instead.

Alternatively get a quote from Queen Service Renault in Leeds, much cheaper and the parts used will be genuine so your warranty is intact.

In fairness I have just had a sit down with the area manager to get things resolved. Everything is going to be put right next weekend, the old girl is booked in to have the brake fluid and engine coolant changed, they are also going to honour the guarantee on the door handle that wasn't fixed first time around.

All in all it is a step in the right direction. I will report back once the work is carried out.

Christ this thread doesn't fill me with confidence regarding Renault Stealerships!

Paul - Glad you're finally getting somewhere, let's hope it gets sorted for you - keep us updated!

I think the 197 will be taken back to Birchdown for all the work needed, even though its a trek the service and knowledge of Steve and co is second to none, they kept my 172 Cup running sweet!

This is why I buy all the parts needed for services etc from a renault specialist and use my friend who's a mechanic to do the work. I am fed up of shoddy work being carried out at the dealers for extortionate prices.

well had my 12000 service at Harratts ponti and all good, running a lot smoother and checked my MPG after driving like a granny for a few miles and got 42mpg.Think Harrats ponti seem to deal more with RS models there was a fair few 200's there and my next motor a meg250 cup in black.i wish!!
