Shuv's Racing Blue 200...................

Sounds like a good result in the end Shuv, and I guess it shows that sometimes there are genuine reasons behind delays etc. We do all tend to assume the worst at times, but that more than likely comes from previous bad experiences, so we're used to that...

On a more positive note: [And its amazing how something so simple can make you smile inside so much]

Someone picked up i had put a couple of Orange wristbands on the gearstick for a bit of added Tango'd-ness:

Well look what i've just had custom made at the extortionate price of £2.59 to add to the 'collection' !

I need one of them in Liquid yellow, where did you attain such an epic creation?

"Niggle Thursday" safely despatched :dizzy:

Dodgy air-vent......caused by over-zealous owner - sorted.
Flashing 'disco' number-plate bulb - changed.
Useless rear wiper - replaced with new Bosch item.

So: I was think about painting my new front and rear disc / hubs at the weekend in readiness for fitting.
Back ones are straight-forward, however the new Brembo High Carbon fronts (Unlike the original [?] ones that are on there now and i've already painted - have no slight lip / difference in levels between the sides of the disc to the actual front wheel-mating surface.

So this means i can only paint right up to the front face right ? Otherwise im risking fitting a wheel onto a painted surface which is a no-no....

Dont really want any sign of silver or rust showing, or rust leaching out onto wheels etc etc when the bare front face starts to rust.

Apart from the fact i guess i'll be applying a coat of Copper-slip etc to the inside of the wheel and / or the outside face of the disc hub.........any other bright ideas ???

Yeah right up the front face or you would be mating them with paint in between.

If your uncertain you could always preliminary fit the wheel when you have put the discs on, wiggle it a bit so it marks exactly where it's going to sit on the face then paint around it accordingly. Do like the idea of having them pre painted though, or it's a bit of a faff...

Correct Chris...... Its a faff now. But more of a faff once fitted !

There's a bit of a chamfer on the corner as you can see. Think i'll mask off to that point and paint the disc side and the chamfer.

Then chuck some Copper-slip on the unpainted front face. Bingo !

3 weeks and £50 later.....

And IF it actually fitted it would probably look great:

Although to be honest - i was kinda expecting a better fit than this:

I mean its not even close to the original ?

Jeez that's disappointing. Surely they must know the size??

Can you trim it down neat enough?

I could do pretty easily Ben - and i've done some working (Cutting, polishing etc) with Carbon: ref Motorbike bits in the past. However this when when i couldn't buy what i wanted and HAD to modify a part from another bike. And it can splinter fairly easily.....

Thing is is shouldn't have to fart around with this and if i f**k it up.....guess who's fault it will be then !

*****Spoken with Chris @ StreamLine Carbon who make these via Text this morning - its going back to them Monday for cutting / shaping and re-lacquering.

Meanwhile:

Isn't it lovely to relax and get into the kitchen on a Saturday.....

And once i've painted the hubs and the outer lips - these should look lovely  I've got a feeling the wife might not share my joy when she gets in. ........DILLIGAF !

That's bad Shuv, but at least it's getting sorted. Just tell yourself that the anticipation is part of the pleasure. (No, it's probably not working is it)? Going to look great when finally dine though.

Looks like the discs are up to your usual high standard Shuv  Shame not everyone works to your standards :worried: Can't believe streamline's made to measure fit... wtf!? Glad I didn't buy one of their diffusers now for £1k, fit on those must be atrocious!

Think your being unreasonable here syer, you are an engineer at the end of the day, id be expecting you to take that inlet manifold off, mount it on a mill and shape the manifold so that the badge fits. God man........ :tongueout:

Glad you got the discs done

Good work on the discs, Shuv! Impeccable standards, as ever! Shame about the engine badge, a bit of an anti-climax after all that waiting time! Hopefully they can get it sorted for you easily enough.

How can a custom made, vehicle specific badge be the wrong size?! Poor standards from Streamline carbon ...

Discs look great though mate... I definitely don't have your patience (or skill) so think when I get new discs I'll get them pre-painted from MTEC :tongueout:

Good luck with that paint staying on ! (There have been quite a few 'problems' with this paint rusting through in no time at all).

Took 10 mins max a disc to tape-up. And the point being - when you then paint you dont need any skill. Just slap it on and peel the tape off. My kind of application

Badge is going back for re-trimming and lacquering Monday. With the original for them to use as a pattern.
To be fair: Streamline were baffled too. None of that helped me though.................

New discs and pads all-around today (With the obligatory caliper clean-up and copper-slipping of the back of the pads, lubing of the pins etc):

IMG_5498_zpsylemdhzc.jpg

And seat out and taken to upholsterers for fabric removal so i can then sort the broken bolster: (Picking the frame back up tomorrow and will then be cracking on with the repair needed. Whatever that may be......)
