Wipers Slowed Down and now Packed Up?!

Morning

Got a wee problem with my wipers - they arent working :worried:

Theyve been getting slower and slower, and i went out the other day and thought these cant be right?!

Anyway, this morning they've pack in completely :worried: Stuck in the middle of the screen, occasionally moving an inch then stopping again (rules out the fuse). I pushed them to the bottom of the screen - quite abit of resistance but you would expect that? I have now left them turned off.

Any advice before i start ripping the car apart??:smile:

Could be as simple as a loose connection, but sounds like the motor has packed in to me.

I would have said the motor would have packed up - Gazeratti had this on his 225 last week, but I guess it wouldn't be moving still. With Renault electrics I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't just a dodgy connection!

Lol I wasn't copying you Daz - the phone rang before I hit 'submit'! :tongue_smilie:

probably the motor by the sounds of it

give it a little tap it could be a sticking commutator brush

might be worth disconnecting the motor and making sure the wiper spindles are free as one of them could have started to sieze up

Nice link

Its got 5 minutes left so i am tempted, think i will wait though, investigate mine alittle further - i can always contact him later if it doesnt go

Yeah I was thinking it is going to be relisted so I don't think there will be any rush. Least the link is there if you need it

i had it happen to my wipers it turned out to be a bush seizing on the linkage it fell apart when i put heat on it to get it apart got a new bush from local bearing specialist

On mine the mechanism got very stiff, reducing the travel quite noticeably and slowing down the wipers. I didn't sort this myself but Paul at the garage was able to strip it down and lubricate the mechanism. Touch wood - it has been ok since. He did say though that a lot of the time when you try stripping it down you end up knackering the mechanism.
