Wheel spacers

Hi question if you can help,
I have fitted Eibach springs to my 197 F1, 20mm front and 25 mm rear,i see a lot of people fit wheel spacers but do not know why,could someone please explain?
Also the drivers Recaro seat has a small wear hole on the side,can you have these repaired or do they sell a genuine kit to replace the faulty area as the seats are otherwise mint,and if so who sell them?

I believe it's mostly down to aesthetics (basically because it looks good). The wheels are a little hidden away under the arches without spacers.
