No1 makes sense on the video but not on the written version. Think whoever did the written version didn't understand it properly.

Do we have any sort of indication as to how much doing these things affects the related components? Does it decrease lifespans by days, weeks, months, years?

I appreciate it may increase the wear and tear but if it reduces the lifespan of a component that's supposed to last 10 years by a few days, it's pretty insignificant really.

I dont think there is a definite answer for that..

Best tip ever is for free :
When you want to put the gearbox in reverse, first put it in 1st and let the throttle come and move the car just an inch forward, come to full stop, put the car in reverse.
