What am I missing? Picture included.

bay1.jpg

Hey guys, so I stole this pic from google. My engine bay is missing the thing on the right before the intake pipe. The thing with the cap on it? I imagine this has a little pipe that goes from it around the back and connects to the second circled bit. At the moment I just have an empty space, and the pipe that is attached the the throttle body just makes an annoying hissing/sucking noise. What parts do I need to replace this, and will this have caused any long term issues for my engine? :worried:

*Gets out Ktec instructions*

I thought it was, it's the acoustic valve. I removed mine when fitting the Induction kit.
I don't think it has any impact if I've removed it so you'll be okay there. Theres a pipe + the valve itself.

It won't be causing any damage to your engine. I think it takes some air in through that pipe at low revs but as the revs rise it only uses the other one. It might be for low speed noise reduction but I can't remember.

Its the accoustic valve, the pipe not blocked off may be causing runnin issue as its drawing in air, just put a bolt in it and cable tie it. Not so much the accoustic valve other then slightly hotter air its sucking in due to the pipe sitting higher. Could put a small length of tube so its drawing air from behind the headlight. I ran mine with the valve diabled so getting 100% air all the time with the small pipe blocked off, never had a issue

Thanks guys. The pipe making the annoying noise now has a small screw in it for now and the acoustic valve will probably not be replaced, i'll just re-route some air flow. Thanks again!

you need to block the pipe up...its drawing in air and will seriously screw up the fuelling....

i pulled the small pipe off mine so the flap stopped open in the valve, pushed a 6mm roofing bolt in the end and a small cable tie around it to make sure it was extra tight.

Put the small pipe onto the screws where the acoustic valve is mounted.

The acoustic valve doesn't do anything except for reducing intake noise by being closed under 4000.
It then opens up because of the underpressure and that's it.

I removed mine and took some times, but it didn't change a thing (except for the noise being better).

you wouldnt say that if you heard how it runs with it unplugged.....mine ran really rough with it unplugged (vacuum pipe off)

Mine ran witg second outlet constantly open and it ran fine or you on about not plugging the vacuum pipe fox

Yeh agree with you on that, although the one time i forgot about it being unplugged, and the ecu adjusted to the extra air and couldnt get the car to idle with it plugged back in.
