Water in footwell!

I have been regularly cleaning out the scuttle panel and side drains as advised.
However after a very heavy downpour last night, I found a small puddle of stale smelling water in the drivers footwell... anic:
I can not see any obvious signs to show where the water got in from. I took out the rubber drainage pipes from both sides and checked that they are not blocked - both are completely clear!

Any ideas where the water may be coming from or is something leaking??

i had this happen to me once before (not a clio). turned out to be a blocked air-con drain pipe and water was backing up and spilling over into the footwell.
