Vinyl Wrap Question

...I want to be able to put my SatNav suction cup (and any other suction cup) on the central dash display for radio/RSMonitor....trouble is the plastic finish doesn't seem to exclude air properly and the suction drops off. So, I am thinking that a vinyl wrap might solve the problem. There are Matt Black products out there and there are Carbon Effect Products...I would prefer to use the latter to match the dash trim in my car but I think that the weave effect on the Carbon Effect wrap might not enable proper suction to occur....has anyone tried this, or can anyone try a suction cup on carbon effect and let me know what happens? Cheers

I want to do the same thing. I think if you just wrap the pod though it will look strange, so you'd have to do the console/vents/strips etc and it get's too complex.

You can get sticky plastic disks but they look unsightly when the sat-nav isn't attached.

I've thought about buying a second hand pod and attacking it with a dremel to see if I could get it to sit in the front of it, but never came up with a solution to make it look good when the unit isn't attached.

...my pod doesn't match the finish on the vents anyway, so I am thinking that the use of a Matt Black finish would be ok....the vents on my car are Matt black with a Matt Black surround whereas the pod has a quite rough cheap finish....
