V6 Airbox - Tell me more

Following these recent threads and I am intrigued about this V6 air box.

Is this literally the airbox from a mid-engine V6 PH1 Clio?

What are the benefits of these?

Although Renault do not supply them - are there alternatives/other routes of supply?

What sort of gains do you get? Better acceleration? Better top end? BHP?

Renault do supply them, the Cup racers use them and they are available through RenaultSport direct. See: http://www.clio197.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17891&highlight=catalogue for part numbers.

Simply put, they offer the most airflow as far as im aware.

Battery relocation to boot

The airbox fitting is the easy bit. You have to relocate the battery as the airbox needs the space it occupies.

Most people have had their batteries moved to the boot but Mark had his put under the passenger seat and it looks good.

I'd recommend you get an auto electrician to tackle the battery re-location.

Varley red top

Battery is a Red top 25

It's not really alot of effort, take the passenger seat out (4 screws) then the glove box and you can see the grommet where you'll pull the live wire through. The earth needs to be short so just earth it under the seat.

The airbox sits fine in its own but there's also a stand/holder for it someone on here has it but I didn't bother.
