Tracking Out

I recently had four tyres fitted and aligned and now the car veers to the left.

I'm well within my rights to call them up, but is there anything they might try and pull to cover themselves?

Not saying they will be anything but helpful, but I paid to have the wheels aligned, and they have clearly ****ed it up; or could it be a differing issue?

I must add the steering wheel now likes to sit 4 or five degrees anti-clockwise.

Cheers for any advice.

Well, if it was driving in a straight line before having the tracking done, and now it isn't... I'd give them a call and just get them to re-do it and check

I've had 2 clios and they both went left.

I'm sure if you do a search on the forum you'd find a few posts on it.

I'll have a look Rouge. I'd did neglect to mention it had a tendency to veer left prior to the tracking, but now 'pulls' to left; i have to hold the wheel firmly.

I'll ring them in the morning.

I question their attention to detail, subsequent to finding this ... They are looking at the car in the morning; shall I mention it?

Anyone? Clearly a piss take, but I don't want to distract them from the salient point; my car wants to put me in a hedge.

Just go to the garage and speak with them about it.

Dont offer to hand over any money, if its not right, you have the right to challenge them.

What's with the nail in the tyre? I don't understand it's relevence. What tyre is that nail in? One fo the 4 they put on the car or in the ones they took off? Either way I can't see how the nail has any relevence.

Just thought they'd have noticed as I said to them they are going on my winter wheels.

Had the car in an they were very friendly and helpful. They showed me the tracking was bang on. They suggested it was tourqe steer but it happens until light acceleration. They also said the wider tyres might not help. Gonna get in in for a full alignment, but as someone kindly adviced, could be a characteristic of these cars.

Happy I name them as freeway tyres tunbridge wells. The guy was very helpful, as I said.

tracking vs full alignment

did you actually get a 4 wheel alignment i.e. comes with print out of readings for all four corners.

or did they 'track it' i.e. align front wheels to rear?

an alignment is not an alignment etc.

^^ This is a fair point. How was the alignment done? Do you have the readouts?

Yeah good point. They aligned the front and back I presume. They recommended another place for a full alignment.

As above. Get it to a proper specialist if these guys keep messing you around. It's a myth that UK cars should pull left created by the Kwik fits of this world that can't get cars to drive straight. Mine used to pull left and now pulls totally straight on an uncambered road, bit far from you but Lee @ FCM in Bristol is great and knows his stuff.
