Had mine done and my steering is off slightly. Told the guys who did the tracking and they said too much hassle to correct :-/

The wheel should be central , if not then the wheel needs to be placed central and the track rods adjusted back to suit. Sounds like they have been lazy, if the TREs had 'gone' then they should have told you as they wouldnt have been able to track it properly.

Easy to check for movement in the TREs though, jack up and hold the alloy at 3&9 and rock side to side, you will see the TRE moving and feel it though the alloy.

Most tyre fitters who also do tracking aren't paid enough to worry about getting it "right", just "good enough" (where YMMV of what that means). I'm not sure I've ever had a good result from a tyre place, so have always ended up going to a specialist. You tend to pay more for the service 'cos it takes longer to get it right.

Basic question ... Am I right in thinking 4 wheel alignment ie Hunter is overkill on our cars as the rears are non adjustable ?

I agree with jont. Pay a little more at specialists but bang on. I have used demon tweeks on both occasions that I've had mine done. Really knowledgable guys . On cliosports etc

I would say no, a 4 wheel alignment check is the way to go, you will know how the rear sits in relation to the front. Yes you can only adjust the front toe but they may be able to reduce the thrust angle when setting front toe and if the rear is way out you could consider shims to improve
