Too old for a 197?

Too old? I hope not as I'm 54 & bought my 200 after enjoying hooning around the Highlands in my mate's 200 - & he's 50. If you enjoy the car that's all that matters.
 
If you enjoy driving it then you aren't too old.

My father in law is in his 50s and drives a 13plate fiesta St in orange and I have a friend who is about 40 who drives an Ibiza Bocenegra.I'm sure my dad, who turns 69 this year, would have one too if he didnt need a bigger car

Old for a Clio Sport? And you are...eeer...30? lol made me laugh..

I'm 35 (in a month's time) and it never ever crossed my mind that age and performance cars are somehow related..
 
53 just sold my 200 and bought a new 200T. When you get old you find it difficult to change gear, you forget things and spill your tea.

All I can say is I'm really 21 but I have 32 years experience of that age.

There are many a track day when I can lap these young ones in there EVOs and Scuberus, it's not your age it's how you use it.

Drive what you enjoy, while you can as one day it will be gone, or get another wife if she dosent like your wheels.
 
Hi mate its about how you feel ? I am 33 married with 2 kids and love hot hatches lol, will be in my 50s 60s and still have a hot hatch. if you buy something boring you will just keep question yourself why you did not buy a 197. Hope you enjoy and give your mates a shot bet they change there mind .
 
Nothing wrong at all with a Clio/hot hatch at 30. I'm 33 and love my 197. As Yiannis says, there is no cut-off age when you can no longer drive a certain type of car. Enjoy it, and carry on making your mates jealous!
 
Pick her up tomorrow. You guys have definitely made my mind up, can't wait to take it for a good scalp! I'm a fussy c**t so il start a new thread asking advice about niggles that need fixing but I spent a lot of time with the car the other day and it was nearly perfect. Only thing was the heater wouldn't work on the 4th setting but I think that's a common problem and hopefully an easy fix.
my ma has a wee ripcurl Clio and the horn in it is pathetic, does a 197 have a beefier horn???

Hi mate hope you enjoy the new car and the horn is a proper decent one lol. Mind get some pics up when you get it. You def made the right decision. You will find all the info you need in this forum, just use the search box. What spec does the car have ? Recaros/xenons/climate control. all the people on here are very friendly bud def one of the best forums to be on. :thumbup1:
 
It's a 2008 197 cup in racing blue, only 40000 miles on it. As its a cup it doesn't have any fancy lights or air con and the seats are the standard rs seats but honestly (this might be sacrilege around these parts) I don't particulary like the way the recaros look so I'm happy with the standard seats. The wheels have just been refurbed so they are as new, tires are pirellis. It has a spoiler but it's not the big mad looking cup one, not too sure what make or style it is. And it has the rs front splitter. A friend of the family works for a Renault specialist repair place over here so shortly after I get it I'm giving it to them to fix the heater issue and also colour code the black mirrors and side bump strips. Not colour coding them and not having having electric mirrors are stupid omissions in my opinion but il live with it. The car hasn't been modded and I won't be modding it as I like to keep things as standard as possible.
did the front splitter actually come on any car from Renault or is it an aftermarket thing? I can't find it on any extras lists or even specs for the various 197 types.
