the difference between air filters?

ITG, KTR etc?

I am going to get one, not for performance or noise, but just so I know the airflow is better than it is standard. I had an ITG on my r27, but they are the most expensive ones ive found.

Should I just go for the cheapest, or stick with another ITG? I'm guessing that as they both don't really do much to improve the car that going for the cheapest is the sensible option, but I dont want quality to become an issue.

So another question: Which one do you have and why did you go for that one?

I've got the KTR one on mine, bought it because I figured since they are Renault specialists it shouldn't be crap!

So far so good

I've got an ITG and I think it's good. I can tell the difference noise wise, performance not so much. But I can hear the air being sucked in from the front left hand side of the car when I put my foot down. Don't forget the other BIG benefit, they never need changing, so it will save you money in the long run. Having said that, it would probably take 4 years to break even! Lol!
I have heard good things about ITG and they make a lot of air filters for racing cars. There are loads of touring cars, rally cars etc that use ITG. They are good quality and they also make the maxogen filter charger, which are specifically designed for every vehicle and tested. A lot of manufacturers just make a filter fit. They don't test and modify their designs. Also, ITG are British.

I haven't owned the others, so can't really comment. But I'd imagine you would be pused to tell the difference whe driving. I did read somewhere that someone was dissappointed with a KTR, saying it didn't fit properly and the quality was poor.

I spoke to RS Tuning in Leeds about this matter, and seeing as they are the experts i took them on their word.
They said that replacing the air filter would have absolutely no effect on the performance of the car, either before or after a re-map. The standard filter is more than capable of handling the airflow.

So there you go :'(

Consider though that this is the same airbox as a 1.2 Clio IIRC, so I am not sure I completely agree.

Just repeating what 'the expert' told me! :tongueout:roud:

Maybe a whole new Airbox would be more appropriate, like the one from the Clio V6; would this fit with some gentle persuasion?

ITG for me too mate. had a K&N appollo induction kit on before then changed back to standard box an ITG and i can not stress enough how much better the car went.
