temp gauge is it normal?

Driving up to my parents lastnight (5 degrees) the temp gauge was sitting below its normal warm temp, this was 40 miles into the journey sitting at 80 ish all the way is this normal or is thermostat on its way or dread it head gasket? Heaters blowing hot air fine , water colour oil colour as normal and no loss in power?

Yeah they all tend to sit below halfway. I have only seen it rise when sat in traffic not moving on a warm day. While you are driving, even quickly, they keep cool. It is a good design!

Headgasket failures on F4Rs are very rare fortunately. As above sounds normal to me, cars oem thermostat is very low at 75 degrees anyway.

Ive just found out by accident thet the temp gauge reads cooler with climate (with ac) on than with it switched off, turned it on and off while in traffic and the gauge followed suit.
