Taken the plunge.....

Bought this today to try get rid of some annoying scratches in the RAV4 but was gonna give it a whirl on the Clio first.

so where would this fit in the lines of when to use it and what to do first,

I normally - Snow Foam, Iron X, Tar Removal, Snow Foam, 2 Bucket Clean, Clay, Foam Again, Rinse, Dry, then onto polish and wax stage

Would I do all that, then polish using the DA and then put a layer of purple haze on top?

Any comments / tips are welcome

The DAS6 pro is a great bit of kit. You'd use it to work your chosen polish after you dry your car and before you wax it.

You'd use it after all your clean and prep Andy, but before you go putting any sort of wax or sealant on (or you'll just be taking it all back off again). You can use some polishes beforehand but what your really looking for is a perfectly clean surface wi no tar or dust etc.

I've got exactly the same kit mate, hopefully I'll get my workshop cleared out and get mine in for winter prep and maybe a go over with the DA in the next few weeks.

I'm no expert (no by a looooong shot) but gimme a shout if your stuck with it, or just head over to detailing world, there's enough info over there to properly melt your head.

I foam, wash, quick dry, iron x, rinse & dry, tardis, rinse, clay, polish and then wax and trim the car + wheels off and fully done as above.

Takes 2-3 days but I have a garage to do it in.

Am gonna hit it at 6am Friday morning in my unit, probably see how it goes but allowing 15 hours to do it and see how she goes am sure I can do it in that time as when I used to work in valeting some moons ago and before all the detailing scene took off we used to do a full valet in 6 hours ish and then pass out with being tired. Boss was a right slave driver and there was no machine polishers used, just a lot of elbow grease and hard work

Make sure you have a good selection of pads to try till you find the right pad.

Think I have 5 or 6 full size pads and 3 spot pads to use in different areas.

You'll be fine mate. Start slow and increase the speed whilst decreasing the pressure once the polish starts to break down (polish will begin to go glear as it breaks down, this is when it's doing it's best work and it's not a stage you can easily get polish to by hand)... I do two big details per year on Nicole, one in September and one in March. The rest of the time I just give her a good wash once every 5/6 weeks. The better the results you get through the polishing stage, the better she'll look once the final wax or sealant goes on and the longer it should last.

Do a test bit first, I used the top of the rear bumper to see how the pad/polish were working together and to see how they were reacting with the paint. I use the same DA you have there with Sonus pads and Sonus polishes and they work an absoloute treat. Just take your time with it and get used to playing with different speeds and pressures. It's difficult to cause damage with a DA when compared to a Rotary, so don't be too shy with it either...
