Struggling Wipers

I've got an issue with my front wipers, I couldn't find the exact answer from other posts.
When I put the wipers on nothing happens, sometimes if I put them on max speed they will wipe but slowly.
I've had the usual issues with seized linkage before so today I removed the linkage to check and it was moving freeley.
Reassembled and with out the wiper arms fitted it seems to run fine, as soon as the arms are fitted and there is a bit of resistance it either won't wipe or stops mid wipe.
Any ideas on what else to check? Is it possible the motor is just knackered?

Cheers Matt

OK give the wiper motor directly 12Volts and check the speed then as there might be a chance they are getting below 12volts hence going slower also check the earths. Most likely the motor brushes or water damage inside the motor you can get a similar problem with some side window motors.

All paid members deserve some form of help that's what the forum is all about maybe this should be moved to the How to section.

Had some time today to investigate my wiper issues, I removed the motor and tested it on the bench, other than a bit dirty it was fine, both speeds and the park detect line goes to GND when in position.
I refitted and tested it again, it will work fine then just suddenly stop, it would appear the wipers stop but not in the park position which then means they will no longer start again.
This sounds similar to what others have described wipers stopping mid-wipe.
Any other suggestions on what to check would be much appreciated

The car is designed to disable the wipers if there is a lot of physical resistance so your problem is there is too much physical drag on the mechanism or the motor is not producing enough power crack open the motor and check inside or new motor 7701061590 Clio 197 wiper motor I think the Valeo ones are about £85. Or check this thread to dismantle the main mechanism it should be quite free https://clio197.net/threads/free-up-windscreen-wiper-mechanism.65880/

Take out the wiper linkage as they are known and prone to getting rusty and seizing as its a common problem.

There is small circlips they hold the linkage together.

I stripped mine down, Rubbed it down with some emory paper and re-greased it and it worked amazing.

Eventually got round to looking at my wipers again, as suggested stripped, cleaned and re-greased the wiper mechanism.
I also stripped the motor and cleaned the contacts inside as they were looking quite tarnished.
Mechanism is moving freeley now but the wipers are still struggling and eventually stop half way across the screen.
The motor is getting a good 12v but I will try to run it from an independent supply.
It appears as if the feed to the motor is being stopped possibly due to over current. Does anyone have any info/ diagrams on what happens after connection to the motor?
