Standard exhaust noise

I have always wondered this, when driving my 197 the sound is amazing in side the car imho but what does it sound like from a pedestrian point of view when you drive past?

I don't see any other 197/200s driving around when I am walking and no one else drives my car so its not something I get to hear, looked on youtube but can only find aftermarket exhausts.

I have been thinking the same, but I removed my centre silencer yesterday so mine is no longer standard. If we could get that meet organised we could find out ;-)

they sound quite raughty actually. better at 5k rpm + but thats kinda hard some time in 'pedestrian' zones

only time i heard my Akra was the vids from Snetterton..........and when Emma dicided she wanted to warm up the tyres after dropping me at work

Often thought the same thing, never walk anywhere so wouldn't know what it sounds like from outside.
Someone needs to video one driving by.

well after removing centre silencer at weekend, I've been using any excuse to go out in car and been keeping it in lower gears and def. get people turning round now looking. So would be good to get a video from car following as after some of the pops & crackling been wondering if also getting flaming just some vehicles which either coming up behind in outside lane then pull in and start to follow me while I was doing this

Think its time i found someone local who can remove my center box, so many people are doing it now.

well worth it as standard system is very well spec'd it's 2.38"(197) all way through so back in the day that was still classed as a big bore system, but that middle silencer really does silence and once gone it's a wow car sounds awesome

Had mine removed last weekend!

And all I can say now is... "WHO NEEDS A RADIO?!"

I just drive around listening to the pops and growls of the engine - has given me a new lease of life with the car.

lovely.

Think the only thing stopping me was i didn't want any loss of back pressure.
I have thought about it now and prob will get it cut out.

I've not noticed any loss of back pressure (dyno may show something), even the flat spot when cold is no worse but mine was bad anyway so don't think it could've got any worse so just a case of adjusting driving style and give a few minutes more to warm up.

I've also given a good drive on A/B roads and motorway speeds and all seems fine
