Spoiler recall

Ended up with mine in Harratts Wakefield, hoping to pick up tomorrow ( dropped off Monday ). Got a courtesy car ( Dacia Duster!) and all round good service from them with no fees for insurance cover. All is well so far

Took mine to Renault Manchester, I asked for it to be done on a Saturday morning as this is easiest day for me to get there, they told me they can only do it on a week day as they need my car for a full day!
They booked it for a week on Monday later. I dropped it off first thing (after sitting in traffic for 1h 20m) and they gave me a car for the day.
I went back the next morning (sat in the traffic again for an hour or so) and when I got there I was told "Sorry but its not been done" as they didn't have the parts in???
They wanted to keep my car for the rest of the week till they could get the parts, but they said I could keep there car until mine was ready.
My answer to that was "no thanks, give me my key card back and I won't be coming back"
I couldn't believe how they wasted my time like this, why didn't they make sure they had the parts when they booked it in? they had over a week and half notice on it.
So now need to find a dealer that can do the job while I wait or it won't be getting done.

That's not very good service at all!

The missing parts will be the Bonding kit. Cant understand why they would not make sure that they had this before booking your car in!!

Also funny how some dealers are saying that they need the car for the complete day. Mine went in at 8.30 am and I got a call at lunchtime saying that I could pick it up. I did query this and they said that depending on temperature, that the glue cures in around 2 hours.

You would of thought so.
It would be like booking you car in for a service and them not having any oil to put in it, pointless really!
You would half expect it from a back street garage but from a main dealer is unacceptable.

Had mine in today and they have caused further damage trying to get the glue off. Paint has been scratched off in a couple of places. The manager did own up and said they will put it right. What a carry on? They can't even glue a spoiler on properly! He said it was a specialist job and should of gone to specialist garage, what a load of crap!! This is Evans Halshaw Renault dealership in Middlesbrough. I've told him I want the paint on to be done at a paint shop that I know can do LY. They have agreed and said ok which is one thing I suppose. Certainly don't want them touching it again! Absolute BOW!!!

GOOD GOD.

What a farce and a nightmare for you. Specialist job my arse. If my local Arnold Clark garage can do the job properly, then I think that speaks volumes about the level of difficulty! Good luck getting the paintwork sorted properly. I've seen some awful jobs done on cars in LY.

Yeah I know the guys at my local body shop. They did some work on my LY R26 a few years ago and it was spot on so I've got a lot of faith in them. They talk through the process with me so am happy with that.

Sounds like its better to trade it in for the MK3?, our spoilers are solid have not came unstuck for years. Sorry lads, sure sounds like a pain in the ass.

But this is the thing. It "is" (or rather should be) a simple job. The problem is with some dealers service dept.s ... that are just plain bloody useless. Mind you, I could point that finger across pretty much all manufacturers here. Worst two cars I had, were both VAG products (a Seat and a VW) and the service depts were almost as bad. So much for quality engineering etc.

Mind you. Talking about trading cars in. Just in the process of chopping my 200t in for a new Focus ST3 (all extras bar sunroof ... cancelled order). And against my expectations, I got a pretty reasonable trade in value for the RS Clio. This on top of the HUGE saving by going through CARWOW. Bit of post drift here I suppose.
