Sliding fixed seats?

So, theres someone who's done this with their seats....

Fitted aftermarket sliders that fit onto the OEM floor fitments, with adapted beams. Like so...

The square bar that has been welded to the runners will attach to the floor by the same 2 bolts that you'd use to put the standard seats in. Then you'd get this...

Means that the side mounts can go onto the runners, and the seat can be adjusted. But would also mean that if needs be, I can keep the back seats in for everyday, and use normal seatbelts. Then if anyone NEEDS to go in the back, I could slide the buckets forward and someone could slide in

Do you think this is completely impractical and that it sounds good in principle, but wouldn't be in practise?

Orrrrr....would be it be a compromise to permanent fixed buckets and back seats?

I know no-one will know for certain expect the person who owns it, I'm just askin for an opinion

Cheers

The owner of the Astra probably fitted the sliders so that they can get their child in the back.

I dont see any downside of this tbh.

Yeah they do mention that in the thread
Me either....just seeing if people think there will be enough room etc.

How is that seat belt supposed to hold you in ? It should be through the hole of the seat a the B-Pillar.

No reason why it shouldnt work. K-Tec sell subframes for the 197 so theres no need to have some made up, unless you want them lower again.

Yeah, that should be changed in this example tbf!
For that price I may aswell get some made up haha, will be lower then too

Thats how mine were fitted but with the official recaro runners but they are £400 !

these are good work though

dont't ktech sell something similar

we made my passenger seat move forward as even with the sliders and adult wll struggle to get in back

Ktec sell fixed versions yeah man

I'm thinking aftermarket runners that side mounts attach to  that's how these ones work.

But good to hear some first hand experience

i "think" bolting sliders onto the Ktech ones will make the seat sit too high

as it will add about 1.5"inch to the height .

i do like the " home made " approach, but would like something looking nicer low as possible with movment but as said if its access your looking for id look elsewhere

The home-made versions will be around 25mm high, with the sliders adding around 20mm again, so with it being 45mm extra...yeah about 1.5" :-/
Then the side mounts going ontop of those sliders.

The access thing is only really out of accessibility, so that if I needed to, I still could  I hard ally ever use the rears, but would be handy to know they are there if needed

yeh thats the thing you "can" get in the back if needed kind of thing and as i say you can mount the passenger seat further forward on the runners so it does not go back as far but will consequentially move furtur forward on the rials

this is something i have had " bubbling " away as a thought for a while now . . . i shall see if it is something i can measure up for later this weekend

Yeah, good idea with the passenger side! Hadn't thought of it

If you get some measurements....let me know  haha

Of course I will

Awesome cheers

With the homemade runners...I dont see a reason why say 4-5mm flat bar couldn't be used. Would near enough be just the height of the runners then!

So an extra 24mm (1 inch) higher than standard side mounts, with welded braces. But with the added bonus of sliding and can replace standard seats whenever

Quality  asif you'd notice and inch!

Apart from the MOT, you'd be better taking the rear seats out come MOT time.

I found this out with a two door BMW, someone had fitted a four door drivers seat in it, it slid forward but did not tilt so failed the MOT.

Tbf, for the MOT I'd put standard seats in, or as you say, take the rear seats out.
