Silver door handle refinishing

Anyone know if the best way to have my R27 door handles refinished in factory silver. Heard there was someone on Facebook doing an exchange service.

I know some people paint them themselves, I'm not a fan of aerosol paint and not sure it will achieve the matt/satin finish

Thanks in advance

They can be a total paint to get out as its full on door card off.

I had mine out once and then the second time I made a dogs dinner of it and had to get my specialist to sort it for me.

If it's the same colour as the one of the M2RS (which I assume) this may help you.

It should be Gris Alu 205229 (Ixell) but don't nail me on it. It's what comes out when you search for "poignée de porte" (doorhandle) in relation to the Megane and Renaults in general. In the Ixell catalogue it's also called "Satin-Finish Chrome". Ixell has a 400ml spraycan with the part number 7711431537 but it doesn't seems to be readily available.

@roblee8g had asked for the colour in the Australian forum and the quote is what I found out.

I did mine with some fizzy cans from auto-paint.co.uk, just asked for Gris Platine, Colour Code: TED69. They looked great to begin with but i can't have used enough lacquer as they've started to scratch, need to give them another go... if you want them doing right and last long term I'd probably take them to a paint shop. :thumb:

From what I got the colour I mentioned (Gris Alu 205229) is a specific plastic paint ment especially for things that get touched often. It says "excellent hiding power due to high solid content" in the German description.

TE D69 is Gris Platine/Platinum Grey/Mercury Silver which is the colour for the Silverstone GP special edition. TE stands for "Teinte à effet" (effect colour). This colour presumably isn't ment to be used without a clear coat cover.

I painted mine myself in situ on the car ~ went with grey primer, gloss black and then a gloss lacquer to protect the finish. It's definitely the easiest, cheapest option and so far is standing up to the test of time.

I have a screen shot of a door handle paint code it says to use matt clearcoat from the ixell paint system that was posted somewhere
