Siezed bonnet catch

Went to fill the car with washer fluid yesterday and the bonnet won't close. It will go down but won't lock in place. I've looked at the catch and its stuck, the cable is pulling with the handle from inside the car but it doesn't affect the catch due to it being stuck.

I know this was common on the mk2 and indeed all of mine had recalls but is this problem carried over to the mk3?

not normally - give it a spray with wd40 and work it until it frees off then spray with white grease - check every service and should be fine
