SHOW PLATES BUT ####

Happy to sort this mate. Can ask about a group buy discount but given they're only pennies anyway it's hardly worth it.

Personally, I've done the car show scene and have no interest so it would be road legal ones for me.

I can word him up and see what's on offer if there's interest?
Mines just for playground days Paul

Last I heard you're not allowed any writing on the plate other than the registration code and name of the company that made up the plates...to be 100% road legal that is, so the likes of clio197.net etc is illegal...unless it's changed again and I've not noticed?

Yes they can be put on but then classed as show plates, just in case you get a really toe the line cop on you.

Would be interested in this too though if I'm wrong, want to get rid of the yucky Peter Vardy sitting on bottom of mine.

So it's legal to have Peter Vardy advertising but not clio197.net??

Apperently the law is the manufacturers postcode and BS number. All my cars have passed their MOTs with 'clean' plates. If the letters are the correct size and spaced correctly then you are hardly liking to get a pull with 197.net on them!

You can buy Renault Sport showplates if all else fails.

And what if Clio197.net IS the supplier?

Typical of this country. Full of stupid laws made up by bewildered toffs that the rest of us don't agree with.

As long as the registration can be read clearly, what's the problem?

Steven will know all the ins and outs. Still waiting to hear back from him.

The fact you need the manufactures postcode is too 'stop' plate cloning and the BS number is to prove its made to the correct standard. If you were going to buy numberplates the 'law' is you need to take your V5 and driving license to prove the plate is for your car. I buy mine online as showplates so none of these needed. Never had any issues with clean plates. Even with a 8 X 5 bike plate.

Basically yes as they're the company that made up the plate, as it will also have their registration code/post code and the BS number.

Like I say it would only cause an issue if you got pulled over by a jobsworth police officer etc.

The amount of cars I see with daft letter spacing, naff fonts, 'tinted' colours, bolt covers in wrong places etc, I think someone would have to be really unlucky to get a telling off for a small URL on a plate

OT, I would be up for a plate too!

So. Had the full run down from Steven.
  • He can print a logo on the plates but because he needs to print on yellow, only red or black really work. Blue goes dirty and you can't print white.
  • Text is no problem at all.
  • The logo can be a maximum of 10mm high.
  • We don't all have to have a logo
My gut feeling would be for a 197.net logo in black outline and username text in red or black. To make this easy, those that have a logo all need to go for the same logo (make sense?) so we need to come to a group consensus on this. I'll do some mockups when I get a chance.

I've seen these in the flesh and they're really nice.

In the photos below, the last photo gives an idea of the size of the logo / text area we are playing with.

Prices
Printed on acrylic - £22
Domed on acrylic - £40
Printed on aluminium - £25
Domed on aluminium - £45

There is a possibility of a GB discount but we need to know how many want them first. To be fair, I think they're pretty cheap anyway for the quality.

Regardless of what is the outcome with the logo, the options for the plate (we don't all have to pick the same) are as follows.

1. Printed on acrylic

2. Domed on acrylic

3. Printed on aluminium

4. Domed on aluminium

Sorry mate. Should have made that clearer. You can have any VERSION of the logo you like, 197/200/200t they just need to be the same proportion to make setting up the artwork easier.

Obviously that's only if we get to a GB situ, otherwise, you can just have what you like. And the prices will be as above.

Or maybe Danny fancies sorting us members out?
