Service Question

Iv had a search around the forum, but i was curious about servicing.

Does my R27 have to be serviced by Renault themselfs? Im asking this because the three closest Renault dealers arnt exactly near by and they are a bunch of cowboys with not much of a clue about the sport range. So i have put my previous car and family cars to a local well known garage that are good at what they do.

Will this affect my warranty because i need some warranty work done soon?

Cheers.

I had this problem when I had mine done. I played it safe and went to the dealers so they could do the warranty work at the same time. Is the garage you are going to a Renault specialist or a general garage?

The garage im planning on taking it too is a general garage that only use genuine Renault parts and have a great reputation.

no as long as the company doing the work is VAT registered and uses genuine Renault parts the warranty remains

Yes they are VAT registered, but i was just curious on how i stood. Because the Renault dealers want a good 50 odd quid more for the service and they will treat my car a hell of alot worse, plus its hard for me with all three garages being 30+ miles away and this garage being only 3 miles away.

ye feck the dealers i paid £135 to fred at BTM would rather somebody like him looked after my car who deals with them day to day rather than pay some crappy Renualt dealer who would charge nearly £70 more and not give two fecks about the car

Exactly why im asking that question mate, it just bugs the shit outta me. Well i suppose i better book the car in.. Then into Renault for some warranty work. lol.

Thanks for helping out.

Thats why i asked this question and as withoutabix said as long as they are VAT registered and use genuine Renault parts you are fine.

I called up the guys at the garage and also called up Renault themselfs and they say it is fine to have it serviced at a local garage as long as they use genuine parts, and this is what this garage does. They have a good reputation in the town so im happy.

Also think my exhaust is burst :worried:

It will be fine at your local garage, I get mine done at my mates.

Mine hasn't been back to the dealers since I bought it 15 months ago, it's far more reliable than the red 197 i used to have. I think they hold together better the more abuse they get

If your looking for an exhaust I have a standard one and could meet you half way to save on delivery

Yeah well mines gets driven with spirit .

Thanks mate, im hoping its ok, but if it isn't im just considering putting on a full Miltek, if not just put on an original which your offer might be handy for.

The EU changed the law on this so you could take the car anywhere to get it serviced, and as already said, as long as they are VAT registered and use genuine parts, you are ok

Incidentally, I think they insist on VAT registration so that you don't do it yourself, ruin the car, bodge a service receipt, then take it down renault to claim!
