As you know Si some people will never see the wood for the tree's.
My advice (from some limited experience) is you only live once, i honestly couldn't care one little bit what anyone else thinks or says about me any more. I stopped trying to justify my self and getting into arguments years ago.
I simply refuse to do so any more and happily sleep at night now.
Just remember It's sometimes darkest just before the dawn.
