Firstly, my thanks to @PITA as this is a bought and not built thread. The car’s spec when purchased in early March ‘24 is substantial but more importantly for me shows material attention to detail and consideration. The headlines when it arrived that are unchanged…

Engine, management & fuel:
  • Standard 2.0l F4R with ARP bolts
  • Pure Motorsport CNC breather plate
  • Rotrex C30-94 supercharger
  • Pro Alloy custom intercooler integrated into the crash bar
  • Pro Alloy custom radiator and SPAL 12” fan
  • Pro Alloy hard pipes and Forge 50mm BOV
  • Setrab 16 row supercharger oil cooler
  • 19 row engine oil cooler and thermostatic sandwich plate
  • Walbro 255 lt/ph in-tank lift pump
  • Nuke 2G surge tank with DW fuel pump
  • Braided AN6 fuel lines and tank return
  • 630cc Siemens DEKA injectors
  • Sytec adjustable FPR
  • Ecumaster EMU black standalone ECU with datalogger and BT capability
  • Bosch LSU 4.9 wideband o2 sensor
  • Audi R8 coilpacks and plugs, firing full sequential
  • Sytec FPR
  • Nuke catch can and aluminium coolant expansion tank
  • Mapped to 318hp / 231 ft/lbs at the wheels. Clearly some big power so booked in mid-May to check the map and likely dial back
Exhaust & drivetrain:
  • Pure Motorsport manifold
  • Akrapovic manifold back exhaust system with carbon tips
  • Pure Motorsport shifter
  • VAL racing ATB diff
  • Standard box and clutch
Suspension & mounts:
  • GAZ gold coilovers
  • Enlarged top mounts and strengthening plates
  • Polybushed lower arms and Rene’s ball joints x6
  • Pure Motorsport engine mounts
  • Megane aluminium mount with polybush
  • Wheeler Motorsport aluminium rad support bar
Interior, cosmetic & other:
  • Fulcrum MSA-spec full cage
  • Corbeau Pro-Series X Racing carbon / kevlar seats
  • Corbeau Ultima six-point harnesses
  • Sabelt SW-733 steering wheel
  • Volantec steering wheel button panel
  • Pure Motorsport driver’s footplate
  • Varley Red Top 25 battery and cage in rear footwell
  • Braided brake lines
  • Cup spoiler
  • CM composites roof scoop
First run out is on Monday 8th at Cadwell with my old pal @R20BTG. As such, it has had the following prep / changes
  • MRF ZTR tyres changed to cup2s as I don’t want to swap the wheels for trackdays
  • Godspeed standard size g-hook discs all round with front CL RC8 and rear DS2500 pads
  • Ferodo FSF050 fluid change
  • Redline MTL gear oil change
  • Engine oil and filter change
  • Spark plug change
  • Rad tested to 4bar as v.minor coolant leak. No issues with the rad so hoses to be inspected / changed
  • Spanner check
  • Interior wiring tidied up and loom heat shrinked
  • £5 eBay sunstrip – good for 20hp
This is my forth clio RS and I think they are fantastic. First time with forced induction so look forwards to Monday and getting to grips with it!

nice spec. my charged 197 is in for an Ecumaster EMU black standalone to be fitted as we speak. I was thinking about having a BT module fitted to it and using a tablet as a digital dash. Do you use the BT module for that purpose or is it more for logging?

I tried the BT module out this morning. I had an old android tablet which would run realdash but not emudash - I’m no tech genius so guessing the version of android was unsupported. Anyway, notwithstanding the additional features that would be available via Emudash (e.g., oil temp / pressure), I was really impressed. Was very responsive and seemingly no latency.

I’ve ordered a cheap chinese surround and then will compare vs. the TomTom in the car to see what’s best, but definitely going to mount something as a digital dash.

This video is pretty good to show the capability of emudash:

First shakedown for the car was at Cadwell in early April. The car ran without issue all day and it was great to be back in a clio again. The bits I didn’t like were as follows:
  1. Handling. Admittedly I hadn’t had the geo checked, but it just felt sloppy relative to a 182 race car that I used to own;
  2. PMS shifter. I had a number of miss shifts both up and down the box. Luckily no damage done to either the engine or chocolate gearbox;
  3. Interior. Doorcards weren’t fitted so switches etc were banging around.

Pretty big update as follows :
  1. I was on holiday and after a few messages back and forth with Nick at PMS (and several beers), I ordered the cup racer front end, bilstein 2-way coilovers, cup racer top mounts, solid subframe mounts, front arms with spherical bearings, rear axle bearing kit and strengthening plates;
  2. Shifter has been replaced with a ZP1 item. I prefer the self centring nature of this like CAE products;
  3. Doorcards from Oreca have been fitted. Quality is rubbish and light can be seen through when not fitted. Now that they have been fitted they don’t look anywhere near as bad;
  4. Both bumpers, wings, roof, and roof scoop have been painted. The car was then machine polished and looks great for a 13 year old car. Set of 8J speedlines with H1 direzzas fitted to complete the exterior;
  5. The map has been dialled back by Northampton Motorsport as the engine isn’t forged. Initially it ran 357hp / 262ft lbs on their rollers. Ended up with a little more mid range and peak figures of 340 / 259;
  6. Geometry and corner weighting completed yesterday by String Theory Garage.

Time for some trackdays!

A couple of days successfully completed at Donington and Snetterton over the last two weeks. The combination of cup racer front end, revised suspension plus set up, and proper tyres has transformed the car.

The only thing I want to do now is fit some brake cooling as they’ve been getting hot. I’ll be in touch @RSRowe.

Also need to get a jack etc and stop being lazy as I didn’t alter the compression or rebound of the bilsteins and the car is too soft. That said, tripod…
