R27 track car build- engine refresh time.

There will be a mixture of materials in the subframe. I imagen finished article will be mainly t45.

Just on with a quick sketch of a catch tank tonight first 5 mins I have had to myself this weekend. Looking at catch tank / expansion tank possibly a gearbox breather which will double up as a remote filler.

Here will be the an10 breather tank which, wil use a breathable cap so is an enclosed unit. I will be making 1 as a prototype to start with.

Any news on rear suspension setup with cage mount yet? Need to get my arse into gear and get my cup cage in.

So so me good news for you today I have managed to get a hold of som blank poly Bush. So with that in mind I will be getting a prototype made up shortly. Within next few weeks

So it’s been extremely quiet on the front. Moving out of my current unit. Putting everything into storage, and building large garage at home to accept 3-4 cars or 2 cars and extra large welding table and my equipment has took most of my time. And money.

But today I’m doing a bit of work on the cage as it’s just come back from sand blasters so a quick sand and 2 coats of etch will do today.

That will do today finish the fuel tank box. Install foot plates and then get the rear cage sat in car.

Good work. :thumb: My matter cage is in now. I decided to weld it in rather than bolt, as it will never be coming out. Hoping I can offset the weight by gutting the door cards and perspex windows front and rear.

Some nice goodies on the way that have stalled the install progress on the cage.

Anthony @ acs Supplied me with 3 brand new ap racing air jacks at a price I could not refuse. So 2 are going to get installed at the front of the car and one at the rear either in the boot like pic below or in another location but will see how we get on with fab work? So air jacks bit overkill? Possible for 90% of cars but in my plans I am really planning a lot of fabwork going on under the car and next year I want to do a lot of testing on track with what I have planned and also try a lot of difrent suspension setups. So jacking car up will become a choir.

As for wiring loom I’m mocked up and everything in place I need to design a bracket on solid work for the switches to mount to and some small brackets to firmly hold wiring in place, to Mack it near and tidy. Once that’s done I’m back on the cage work with the aim of getting the cage installed, and add some new editions for steering column, Ecu Mount, dashboard. She’ll be done for winter to concentrate on engine loom and get everything cleaned ready for next year.

It's the air bottles you have to carry round to make these work that is the killer though.

As the more I looked at the previous design I wasn’t happy with it and looking at a bit more user friendly. Strange tho as I sold a good number of the old seat setups brackets which I offered with custom logos but I think many where put off with it been a fixed designed system. So last night I started with the spreader plates. These are 64cm2 so well above msa standards and with staying in line with mad standards tube is staying 38mm as per optional bar spec with material t45. Next job side mounts and tube brackets.

So today I get the keys to my new workshop. I’ve been plodding about at hope and in a lock up for long enough. So here it is this will give me all the space to do what I want to the shell. As well as a clean room for tig welding and rebuilding parts. Properly excited about this and I can finally get the shell to a standard I want. And not be struggling for space. First job is to get moved in get compressor in my toolbox and what not then get car in and onto a rollover jig. In the pics you can see I have a designated prep are too for all messy jobs including painting and fibreglass work Couldn’t turn this opp down.
