Pencil coil

Was replacing the spark plugs the other day and noticed that the rubber seal on one of the pencil coils that sits below the bit that you screw down has perished and come loose from the coil. Could that have any effect and is it worth changing? The car is driving fine.

its a sort of seal to help keep out damp etc wouldn't think it would be a big issue unless you jet wash the engine and you get some water to seep down

No I would never jet wash the engine. Might be an idea to replace it then just in case. I don't think they are very dear? All the ones on eBay seem to be used.
