Noticed this after the woodbridge airfield day.
Suffice to say even though it was a cold day with damp patches etc on track i expected the tyre to last more than 1 track day!
Especially as i managed the temps etc.
This front left tyre had only done 3k road miles prior to the day and although it took the most abuse i thought it would last longer than what it had.
Never again will i run contis on an airfield day 8)

Looks like the tread blocks just fell away.
The federals i normally use handled it no problem last time and it was a red hot day too.

That doesn't look to good, I wouldn't expect a conti to de laminate like that so soon. Are all the others ok?

Bloody hell, is this caused by doing the trackday on a concrete runway rather than tarmac track?

Assuming you're referring to me (then sorry for jacking thread).

1st was at Sepang International F1 Circuit
2nd was at Pasir Gudang Circuit

Both were full tarmac.

Looks really bad, pretty much why i didn't bother trying to use contis on track though as I was assured they would just be destroyed in half a day.

I reckon that didnt help. But i have previously used vredestein ultracs on my previous r26, did 2 trackdays n 16k on road..no issues.
Either the sidewalls of conti 3s cant take abuse ir i had a dodgy 1.
Other 3 are ok.
Lesson learnt anyway 8)

Well actually what I failed to mention was that Pasir Gudang Circuit's tarmac was very gravelly - not the best condition of circuits out there and definitely not as good as UK well maintained circuits - so alot of sliding.

Also most of the corners were hard right handers.

The circuit itself was a medium speed circuit with quite a good dynamic variation of up and down hills. But the good thing is, I managed to kill all the FD2Rs' there and only the regulars' track cars were gunning me.

So in my opinion, the burn was worth it :tongueout: as in Sepang, me driving the Clio was no competition to the Civics TypeRs.
