Oil Top Up

OK weekend just gone, did a big trip to FCS like most, approx 400miles.

Next day evening start the 197 - dashboard indicates "TOP UP OIL LEVEL"

Checked dipstick in bay - pretty low, so I added just over a litre of Castol Sport Edge 0w-40.

Since then (Monday) - car has been fine - dashboard dipstick is showing full.
However I cant understand how it has got that low. No leaks I can see, should the car use that much.

Currently done 33,000ish and due a service in 4k

Any advice be really helpful, thanks in advance
James.

It comes all down to how the engine break-in was done, how you drive it - high revs / how you drive it cold, what kind of oil you use (hths factor etc.), on how many miles you change the oil,.....

I find the dash display is not very accurate my wifes 200 has used 1.35 litres In 5 .5k miles. including track use and 1100 miles hard driving around europe on our trip to the nurburgring, and mostly cold starts. its best to check the level on a weekly basis. how long has it been since your last top up?don't rely on the dash display or warning as the level will be way to low by the time it alerts you!I think 250-300 ml per 1000 miles isn't unusual
