Oil 5w30

Hi , my car been service today by stoneacre , just look at service sheet they put in 5w30 , should it be 5w40 , will make much different ? Thanks

The 30 means it's a thinner oil... I'd take it back and tell them to change it to the correct oil. Iirc thinner oil is better for cold starts on winter mornings

Good - no point running a 30 weight oil when really it should be 40.

the higher number is the viscosity at temperature (100c i think) - the first number is the cold viscosity, so whether its 5w30 or 5w40 will make no difference to cold starts.

Does anyone know any good garages in West Yorkshire/South yorkshire area , don't think I am going to stonearce next year, they can't get oil right , what would they be like with cambelt

They probably put in regular clio mark 3 oil... Not the stuff that the RS needs to be efficiently 'ragged'. Might smell burning.

If you want a main dealer then I highly recommend Harratts in either Wakefield or Pontefract. Adam Vickers (Ponte) is the lad to speak to and he will look after you if you say you are from the forum.

Independent specialists, either RS Tuning in Leeds, or RS Murrays in Headingley. Or Bolsover Car Care in Chesterfield.
