number plate retention online service

so it seems there is now a GOV.UK online service to transfer/retain personalised plates instead of sending in forms and cheques etc. has anyone tried this out yet?

Yep it's so easy to do now, I had my new v5c with the original reg within 3 working days of doing it online.

Also it's cheaper mine is now on retention for 10 years and I've all ready paid the fee for the plate to be transferred if I choose to on another vehicle so no further charges or hassle with payments.

i retained my plate this morning. took 2-3 mins!!! am i right in thinking i can now put the original plate back on straight away or do I need to wait for the new v5c to arrive? [MENTION=53024]Stason[/MENTION]

i changed mine instantly to be cautious i had an email confirmation and a code to refer to if i was pulled by the rozzers.

i thought given the chances it would be more suspicious/trouble if my old plate came up on retention and caught using it.
