Numberplate location

I'm after some advice regarding the position of a front number plate.
Is it legal to have it positioned left of centre?
Ive read many threads online on different forums and still not really sure how id stand!
Some say no obviously but I read one which sounded plausible saying yes according to
Road vehicle( display of registration marks)Regulations 2001.

Thanks in advance.

I can't see that it is illegal as Alfa have done it for years & some Evos had it. I never had any issues with police or MOT on my Alfa with off centre no.plate.

I don't believe there are any restrictions on location, as long as the plate is legal - i.e. correct spacing, size of letters etc. There's nothing on the Gov website that specifies the correct location, only that there should be a proper one front and rear.

There is something in law which states the front numberplate should be as forward on the car as possible but I dont think it states central.
