Thought I'd post up a bit of a progress thread for my AG 200.
Don't go expecting massive things as those days for me are over!
I bought this car with the intention of keeping it at a level that it could be returned back to standard, and with the possible hope that maybe one day, it'll be worth a few quid. My car is one of the 55 AG 200's that were produced, and one of only 2 in the uk market that were specced with the factory black roof.
Some of you may know of my mk2 cup that I built. Here's the link to the thread for those that don't - https://www.cliosport.net/threads/breaking-cover-ag-content-from-page-45.772072/ Needless to say, I like to do things a bit different to the norm!
Here's the old mk2 in all her glory! 230bhp, 181lb/ft in a 900kg car was good fun.
And the heart of all that was this little creation:That's a 197 head on a 172 block, complete with a few choice enhancements like R3 maxi pistons and cams, R3 maxi evo carbon airbox (never been fitted in a mk2 until that point!), custom loom, gearbox oil cooler, yada yada yada. I think you get the drift!
The original cup engine got me a 8:31 lap of the Nurburgring in tf way back (
), so this setup was all looking positive to see me cracking the 8:15's a couple of years back. Unfortunately due to this:
and a £2.5k weekend I chose to break the car for parts. At that point in time my wife was 6 months pregnant with our daughter, and tbh, I'd fell out with cars. The stress that weekend caused can't even be put into words!!
So I started looking for something different. This lead me back to my other passion - 2 wheels, so a plan was formulated and a decision was made that I was buying one of these:S1000RR. Well a certain little girl arrived in our lives in October 2016, and I just knew instantly that I couldn't put my wife through that level of stress every time I went out for a blast, and I certainly couldn't leave my little girl without a dad should it all go wrong. A new plan of attack was needed, but what? Well I used to own a climate control equipped 172 cup back in the day. This was my daily driver and I used to drive it like a hooligan! Lol! So much fun was had in that car and I knew that I was going to be back in a clio. This time in a mk3 though. A wanted ad was put up on cs.net...............and in to the story steps @Mossy who gave me the info on the mk3 build numbers. Turns out he owned a mk3 AG 200 in the spec I wanted...........
We had a chat via pm and he sent me some pics of the car. A date was arranged to go up and view the car. An hour and a half later and I was driving it home! Lol!! One of the pics sent to me by Paul: Now some of you may recognise this car as it used to be owned by a forum member! And what a fitting number plate! Mk2 FKU! My exact sentiments at the time!! Lol!!
I'm going to keep it standard he said. I like it just as it is he said. Ffs.
