no air feed from upper front grill! wtf!

removed my front bumper today to create a custom cold air feed from the lower front grille only to find the original intake from the upper front grille i had customized just goes into a blocked off box! eh! how can that work well? has anyone else experienced this?

Cut mine out and fitted a custom open mouth grill, cut tge two clips and score the bottom edge and its off

Yeah this is known about, but obviously has a reason to be there.

its only really a sort of deflector plate - it can still draw in air just not directly straight in

it will be mainly to stop the engine drawing in too much rain/water when driving
