New owner

Hi all, I’m the new owner of a clio f1. I’m hoping for some advice. I live in Watford Herts. The car has a straight through from toyo manifold exhaust. Way to loud for me. I also find the car very laggy until 4000rpm Which research suggests is due to the exhaust. I am looking on eBay for a stock cat and middle to put back. Does anyone recommend a local to me place to then have it mapped. I would also like it on dyno to make sure it’s close to what it should be on power. I’m not trying to gain anything over stock power but to iron out the flat spot.

Thanks

Luke

Other things I want to work on. The car is on b14 coilovers . I don’t know how low it’s been set but it is low! It’s also on 20mm spacers all round. I thought that was a lot but it seems 20mm is the norm for these clios ? As a result the front wheels are virtually touching the front bumper. It turns out the previous owner put 225 tyres on instead of 215 and they adds to the wide tightness at front. So my mindset is do I raise coilovers and leave spacers, do I leave coil settings and remove spacers.. the tyres are ps4s and quite new so don’t want to replace.

the last issue is bolster wear and I need to find someone who can repair.

other than that it’s a great car in liquid yellow which I have had my eyes on for many years.

Hi.

Engine Dynamics in Kelvedon, Essex have a very good reputation for mapping in the South East. It might be an idea to get a cat fitted (if you have a decatted car) and then get it remapped so you can get a smoother power curve.

20mm spacers are fairly standard. I have 20mm spacers on 7.5j Speedlines. Standard Renault wheels have an offset of ET68, so 20mm spacers fill the arches nicely and give you an offset of ET48.

The front wheels do come perilously close to the join in the front arch/bumper. As long as it is not rubbing you will be fine.

This is my car on it's track wheels which is not super low but it looks like I should have problems with the front arch - it is fine.

If you are worried just raise the ride height slightly. I would much refer to have B14s over standard cup suspension. I only got rid of my B14s to get more negative camber and damper adjustment.

@Steve Murr is the man you need to speak to about bolster wear. He does repairs.

Liquid yellow is a great colour. I have a Megane in liquid yellow.

Raise the height on the b14’s should help. Best and nearest place for a remap would be Engine Dynamics near Braintree

Thanks . I have an r26 Which is r26yay and managed to find this plate too. The meg has been spot on and was already mapped so I’ve never actually had to seek out a specialist before for the work clio needs
