New owner 197 cup

Thanks for getting back to me. When you replaced the torque mount, was there plenty of movement in the old one? As you know I replaced the top mount stabiliser with genuine Renault one (the old one was wobbling around) but it has made no difference to the knocking. I'm thinking replacing the torque mount and dog bone mount with powerflex inserts and leaving the top one as standard so the vibration won't be so bad. I think the vibration will drive me mad to be honest, but so is this f***ing knocking

Yeah the old one was completely useless I think, the engine had lots of movement compared to what it does now. Could literally pull/push it a good couple of inches back and fourth.

That's how I see it really, the vibration has just replaced the knocking which I prefer  I took some extra notice on my drive home tonight and the mounts seem to have bedded in quite a bit since first fitting a week ago. Maybe im just getting used to it now, but it feels less.

I haven't done the dog bone mount myself, the top 2 seemed to cure my issue so I've left it at that. Would be interesting to see if dog bone + torque mount gives the same result though but with lower vibration levels.

yeah I can still move my engine quite a bit still so hopefully change the torque mount will sort this out. I had quick look on the forum and found a lot people saying that the powerflex inserts do settle down over time, so might be worth giving it a go.

Yeah I'll update and let you know the outcome when the mechanic has finished with it

Ok, I've replaced top mount stabiliser, upgraded the torque engine mount to powerflex and replaced the lower dog bone mount with powerflex. I got the obvious vibration which ain't bad to be honest, but I've still got this knocking noise coming from the drivers side:angry:. 3 mechanic from 3 different garages and all 3 can't find were its coming from, oh and to top it of I've got an oil leak coming from underneath dripping down the side of the gearbox. Slowly losing heart in this car already. any other suggestion please guys would be much appreciated

Car looks great, really love the aesthetics of the Cup with the Recaro's and Spoiler. Bit crappy that the engine mounts didn't resolve the knocking though! Stick with it, once it's all sorted its incredibly rewarding.

ETA: Might be worth visiting a Renault Specialist somewhere local to you if you haven't already - that may have more experience in diagnosing a particular knock than your average garage?

yeah I'm going to stick with it, powerflex has made it drive a lot more better, gear changes feel tighter, so I'm pleased with that. All 3 mounts were knackered. I have a feeling it's going to be the front right shock or the mount that goes on top of it. It only knocks now when going over a big bumps. I'll get it sorted in the future. One mechanic was Renault specialist lol.

Yeah I love the simplicity of the cup model, the only creature comfort that I was after was air con, which this one has.
