Thanks again Robo, esure just got back to me and only added £80 for the spacers and springs mods, its all in writing so i dont have to lose any sleep over it. i havent the knowledge to fit the springs but did the spacers myself SPARCO, quality seems good. i have been quoted £220 for fitting all four H & Rs by turismo in stocksbridge that include 4 wheel alignment and VAT. certified mechanic. he said its a pretty long process (4-5hrs) sound reasonable to you? also if iam posting on the wrong thread please let me know.....cheers

Rear springs are a 30 minute job, its the front that are a real pig. I would say thats not a bad price mate with a wheel alignment as well.

Price isn't too bad, not the cheapest I've seen, but if it's including a full alignment that's not too bad. Alignment would set you back about £40 and I'd use autodynamics for that if you weren't getting it done with Turismo, the guy that runs the place is dead sound and their equipment is top notch (They use a Hunter rig) - last time I was down there they were looking to take on someone to do race/fast road setups.

Let me know how you get on, as they aren't a million miles from me (I live in Hoyland, but I'm from Chapeltown originally).

will do Robo, i know baaarnsleh well as i work there but live in centre of shef, got it booked in for weds, he's picking it up and dropping it off

Hi robo_1 or anyone with any ideas, just got the 197 back from having h&r 30 front 40 mm back springs fitted and wheels aligned. Got 17mm hub centric sparco spacers which were already on, no issues. Except now got steering wheel judder at about 70 mph mechanic says it could be a wheel balance issue but it wasn't a prob before! Has he knackered my steering set up or is it due to the recent mods, help would be appreciated before I take it back to him
Cheers all
Andrew

Could be quite a few things mate, first thing to check is the wheels. Sometimes it's easy to put spacers/wheels on a bit wonky if you've got spacers (the spacers get stick to the spigot a bit wonky then the wheel sits on that a bit wonky). So I'd start by taking the wheels off and refitting then make sure it's all torqued up properly.

After that I'd check the wheels out. You might find that they've had all the wheels off, then put your fronts on the back and your backs on the front. This way if your backs were a bit out of balance before you generally don't notice, if you then stick em up on the front an imbalance can be pretty noticeable. I have this on mine so I just make sure the wheels stay on the right corners.

Hope that helps mate.

Nice one fella, will give it a go, drives spot on otherwise, looks good , had a basic remapp via elite in Leeds at same time and seems to have unlocked a bit more potential thanks again, if it's still same it's goin back.
