It makes me wonder if the original owner had the same problem
on the ad he stated it was fitted for 20 miles then removed as he sold the car

Well couldn't wait for the weekend so fitted them after work
first impressions are not good
the car feels alot slower ,not as responsive & no kick @ 5k alot like driving a 1.0 corsa
seems to be holding back
the good thing is the flat spot is better
then the noise ok it's loud but sounds like a poorly v6
going to run it over the next week or so if theres no improvement the std airbox is going back on

That doesn't sound right at all mate. I'd be getting the car checked out. Unless you've made some major boob fitting it (which would be surprising) something's amiss!

Sorry to hear this, hope you get it sorted. You'll have no worries about selling it if you decide to take it off.

Didn't have much of an issue with mine after fitting except it did suffer from heat soak on very hot days(like today)
Since had it mapped and feels great 99% of the time.

Panel or cone? No setup other than the KTEC gets sufficient airflow to the cone and is the best for avoiding heat soak. I have a K&N panel in mine and it adds the slightest of growls.

Cone mate. It would be the noise I'd be after more than anything, I doubt you gain much even from a KTEC and with a heatshield etc, gains would be minimal. K&N have been around for years.

They have indeed but to get the best out of it you do need the heat shield with the air feed to get the best flow, else all other cones are sucking all that hot air in so the KTEC would be the only one I’d fit (and have in the past).
I also had the same experience with the KTEC and I attempted to fit it twice. You must make sure it is held up as it doesn’t make as good a noise if the bottom of the filter is resting on the heat shield. You also need to make sure the clamps are nice and tight. Failing that, it’s a pretty simple setup so that’s just the way it is. The good news is you can always sell them for what you paid. I miss the noise but having the airbox back just makes the car feel so much better.

Wow, I actually made a positive contribution! My issue was with the jubilee clip with the little stud (not @Pav) had broken and couldn't support the cone. A call to RamAir and £5 later I had 2 sent to me in the post (KTEC don't supply spares). The difference in sound was amazing after.

I've heard similar things about them. They sound great but actually lose power.
I went for the X85 Cup setup for about the same cost. The only downside is having to relocate the battery.

I have KTR induction kit with a scorpion cat back. Made 199.2bhp after a map at Engine Dynamics. Car is 11 yrs old.

Can't be that much wrong with the induction kit!

This was my post 39 here (Before Micah's.... )

And if you want to make the very best of your Induction kit - i still stand by that ! Having had many over the years on various cars...

****And of course getting any other niggles, or doing any other breathing or performance mods before the remap is the right thing to do.
