New front Cup Shocks required (197)

One of mine is leaking - so i'll replace both sides.

Renault want £550 to supply and fit..

How difficult is the job? - I think I read somewhere the hubs have to come off? could a local 'regular' mechanic manage without screwing it up?

the shock is £69.23 each below.

It's not a tough job if you enjoy tinkering with your vehicle. You'll need clamps to compress the spring. Once the spring is secure it's really not a tough job.
Just to add to that, it's far easier to compress the spring when you have some good quality clamps.

I have spring compressors but don't have the time or the space, and the mention of hubs having to come off puts me off trying to squeeze it in on an evening on the drive.

From an early 200 cup? I think 200 FF suspension is softer than 197 cup.

It's about 15% between 200 and 197, roughly the same again between 200 Cup and 197 Cup.

Looking to replace with the same tbh. I like the idea of the slightly stiffer 200 cup setup but I think the 197 cup is a good balance on the UK roads .

How much stiffer/lower are the 200 cup dampers against the 197 cup?

Roughly 15% stiffer, don't think they're any shorter though.
