Neil's any colour but black (so black) 197

Brilliant progress, good to see care and attention going into the maintenance :thumbup1:

Those calipers looked a pain! How did they manage to extract the pins?

Thankyou everyone for the kind comments. I hope the lines go smoothly. I'll report back on if there is an improvement in performance

I didn't see what they did (probably a good thing lol), however I think they pressed them out

A week later than I'd planned due to the weather but I got my HEL brake lines fitted today and got the ATE blue fluid flushed through and replaced with MOTUL RBF 600. I'm hoping in a day or two my squeaky clutch will sort itself out (fingers crossed).

My old mucky rear lines

Much better

The front ones running the correct route so no rubbing but I'll be putting in an extra bracket to ensure they stay like this

Will be taking it out tomorrow for a proper run to see if they make any difference to pedal feel.

Cheers

Well I got carried away over easter and finally ordered my H&R springs and 19mm spacers. Fitted it all without any dramas. I think the car looks great now, whether there is any improvement or reduction in handling is hard to tell as work is only a short drive. However I'm heading upto the Evo Triangle tomorrow morning so that should tell me all I need to know. Just put my name down for the forum Wales run next moth so looking forward to that. Cheers

Just a few photo's of the last couple of weeks with my springs and spacers fitted, along with my morning at the Evo triangle last weekend.

Exciting day getting everything together finally spending money on some fun stuff

I always said if the spacers affected the handling badly in any way they'd be straight off. I'd never want to put looks before performance so I went to wales for a shakedown run to see what I thought.

I'm happy to say IMO the car still handles bang on, the H&R's are great as they handle a B road blast without being jumpy but cornering is slightly flatter.

Cheers

Good to hear that the spacers haven't changed the handling. I've toyed with the idea of putting some on, but was curious about the handling being affected.

Did you enjoy the triangle?

Yes I did thanks, had it pretty much much to myself for the first hour and then more people started turning up. Easy to get chatting to people over there and some nice cars around. Will definitely make the trip again

How easy was it to replace the lines? Did it make much of a difference?

Changing the lines was quite easy, it's just bleeding it all through that took the longest amount of time. I'd say you only really notice a difference when your leaning on the brakes hard, gives a little more confidence further down the pedal travel. I can't say make a drastic difference, I only really changed them as I got a good deal and wanted to finish my brake upgrade 100%. Cheers

not that diff mate...the bleeding is a pig though..unless you done it before leave it to a specialist..brakes are very crucial to be messed with...

i believe it all comes down to your personal feeling/preference..after i had fitted mine the car felt awful in the bends..thats why they went after a few months and got some better wheels with bigger offset...

Cheers , yes done it a few times before but never on brembos like these. Good to know there's nothing drastically different.

Yeah I spent months reading mixed reviews on spacers, I think you just have to give it a try and see how you feel
