My 200

After i've intoduced myself a while ago i tought it might be time to make a project/progress thread here.

After about 6 months of ownership i have changed a bit on the car, did a few laps on the Nurburgring and i am really happy with it.

For the those of you who hadn't read my other post, i've bougth a Clio 200 Cup from 09'(I think 'Nimble' grey it's called?) It has driven about 122.800 kilometers (76304 miles) I bought it with about 119.000 kilometers, i bought the car for the main reason to use it as a trackday car. I't is in a very good condition, altough technically it has not got the attention that was needed. But i changed that.

The things i've did so far:

Wiechers saftery rear cage
Sabelt bucket seats ( turned the airbag light off)
Sandtler 6 point safety harnesses
Changed the brakes, Brembo discs and DS1.1 pads in front and DS2500 rear
Yokohama Ad08r 215/45/17 tyres
New oem swivel hubs
Right inner CV joint cover replacement
Changed the oil incl filter on the motor and gearbox
New air filter and cabin filter

Awesome20180526_114828.jpg These springs came with the car when i bought it and are still on now, without the bucket seats i tought they where to stiff but with the seats in now its tottaly different, never heard of the manufactor by the way.20180707_104454.jpgSomeone has tried to just renew the ball joint, it's not done correctly
20180531_231448.jpg So i ordered these, because i drive it on track i don't want any problems with the suspension, or loose ball joints 20180707_100341.jpg One side on the car20180707_084356.jpgWith new bearings20180708_101051.jpg

And after adviced by a company here in the Netherlands, because i had trouble with the hard/ rough shifting to another gear, that is way better now. But i crunches a bit when i'm full on the power shifting to 5 gear. Syncromesh is on its way..

Here is where i bought the seats and harnesses, real nice place to look around and very good with helping you20180731_124944 - Copy.jpg 20180731_124948.jpg 20180731_130327.jpg 20180731_130332 - Copy.jpg 20180731_130334 - Copy.jpg 20180731_130352 - Copy.jpg 20180731_130845 - Copy.jpg 20180731_134314 - Copy.jpg
And this is by Reinhard Sesterheim in Uxheim near the Nurburgring. They drive VLN and RCN with it, real cool cars!

And in the back you'll see a renault 5
20181031_151610 - Copy.jpg And bought these last week, drove a couple of kilometers and took it back off. Did not really like the look of a flush wheel on a Clio, i have to lowered it a bit more just to see the tyres a bit less. But i'm not planning on doing that, i think i want to go for the clio cup series setup, but then without the 8j wheels i think
20181101_185134.jpg
Well, thats it for now. The Clio is getting winter ready now, i won't be driving it until April i think.

The plans i have for it:

-Steering wheel extender, i am in contact with Giacomo-RS from cliosport.net (i dont know if he is on here as well) how makes these for the original steering wheel
-Change the syncromesh rings from all gears, has anybody got a DIY or howto?
-Renault sport sun screen strip
-Rear 10mm axle spacers and 5 mm front spacers

And who knows in the future, do you guys got any good updates, modification that has to be done for a Clio?

Thanks for looking!

Greetings Rick from the Netherlands

he is. or was. last time i saw him in here, he got slated because some guys thought his spacer was too expensive. i bought one a couple of years back. improved my driving position enormously. wouldn't want to drive my car without it. quality item too.

another worthwhile mod ... https://www.vibra-technics.co.uk/renault/clio_3_rs_197_r27_200/585/REN420M/torque_link

if i was to use my clio solely as a track toy, i'd definitely get me some decent coilovers with adjustable top mounts and i'd polybush the suspension.

I like what you have done & your plans also.

Really like that. Strangely I like the 200 in nimbus grey but not the 197!

Yeah i think you can buy a aftermarket steering wheel for the price but then again that is not orginial. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi guys, finally a update. I've got the steering wheel spacer delivered from Giacomo-RS. I have chosen the 8cm spacer. The splines has quite a bit of slack, but then the orginial steering wheel has the same. As he said the wiring for the airbag and stuff had to be made longer. Installed it today and go for a drive to pickup some parts for the company that i work for, and the coincidence is that i have to collect the parts from a Renault dealer:smile: After putting the driver seat a bit up the seat position is perfect! So very pleased with that, and what a great little car! Here are some pictures

So the next thing i'm planning on doing is rebuild the gearbox for the crunches in 5 gear and occansionally in 3&4 gear and try to resolve the sometimes hard putting in 3&4 gear. Also want to buy braided brake lines all around, replace the inner steering rods along with the outer ones. And go for the strut with nut conversion, but still thinking if want 25mm spacers, i use it for trackdays and with that in mind i'm not really sure about it.. If so the struts have to be ordered in a longer variant. Replace the thermostat because it the coolant temperature stays a bit cold.

And then the thing i've been reading a little bit about and the thing almost everybody here says is the best upgrade you can do, fit a LSD well i'm going to repair the gearbox.

I've seen the Quaife ATB for sale at KTR. Is this a good one? And is this a direct fit with new bearings? Or do you have to adjust things for that like shims or so?

I'm planning on ordering parts this weekend from KTEC.

Let me know what you're opinion is:wink:

Greetings Rick

Update again, the braided lines, racing brake fluid ,inner trackrods and thermostat are ordered at K-tec. I'm not going to buy the diff a.t.m because i just find out that my front shocks/topmounts have play in them and give a knocking sound when driving over potholes. I've ordered the b14 from Bilstein at work today. Tomorrow i will here if the company can deliver them, if so i will order Compbrake topmounts aswell

Hello again,

This week a few parts came in, aswell as the sunscreen sticker! So today i found the time to fitt it to the car, very pleased with it! In a couple of weeks i'm inspecting to get the bilsteins delivered. So just have to wait a couple of weeks and by then i'm going to repair the gearbox aswell.

Goodmorning from the Netherlands, a have a big update. Only this time not for the Clio.. I've traded in the Golf for a Megane RS Cup, i was searching for one quite a while but there where not many cup's out there. Liquid yellow is my favourit but these are hard to find here. Very happy with the megane, the first impressions are REALLY good!
