Misfire & MPG

Hi guys,

Firstly i'm new to this and I'd like to say hi.

I have just sold my clio 172 and bought the wife a 197 cup. I think I may have developed a slight misfire. When its in a high gear 5th/6th and I put my foot down it seems to misfire at about 2 - 2,500 ish rpm.

What would you look at first? the plugs don't seem to be that bad just a little white (is that normal)

Also what is the average mpg I should expect as I think its only doing about 28mpg and that the wife driving lol

Thank you

Think you'll find that's the flat spot you are finding around them revs. Many threads about that, unfortunate trait on these cars.

depends what kind of driving you do. Mine averaged about 28/29 country roads and low 30s on a roads/motorways.

Just to add on the MPG front, the 197 is notably worse on fuel economy than the 172... 28 would be normal for town driving, to achieve higher you'd need to be on a steady cruise.

Also, welcome to the forum

welcome to the forum mate..not sure if by "misfire" you mean a flat spot but if it occurs in between 2-3,000 rpm it may be related to the flat spot..has your exhaust been messed with??
im getting around 20-23 mpg urban driving..

approx. 24 ish urban (assuming not CONSTANT stop/start/sitting in traffic) and 35 ish motorway cruise @ 70

16.5 around town, 40+ at 50-55 mph on the motorway, around 34 at 70 mph on the motorway
