Metal on metal sound!

Hi everyone.

I picked up my clio 200 today and have noticed when driving there is a metal on metal sound, like something is spinning and running against something when the revs increase, but then when the revs idle the sound disappears? Any ideas as to what this could possibly be?

I have a 2009 200 cup, 24k miles. it does have a k&n induction kit fitted but reverting to standard ASAP!

It's in at renault today, the noise is only very quiet and sounds like its coming from the left hand side of the engine, sounds like whatever is causing it is turning if thats any help?
 
I'm no expert so wouldn't even like to speculate what it could be. Hopefully simple though. Does it do it when the car is stationary?
 
Yep when the engine is revved, both in gear and not in gear, when the engine is idleing it doesnt make it, its not overly loud, I wouldn't have noticed it unless I was driving through an alleyway
 
When you say its from the left side could it be the K&N induction kit is fitted bad and rubbing on something?might be worth having a good look round it.
 
Don't think its the K&N mate its from the opposite side, I meant as you have the bonnet open and looking at it from the front sorry I didn't really explain that very well haha! If your sat in the drivers seat it is from infront of you

thats the timing belt / aux belt / air con compressor all are :001_huh:
 
Will have to see today and will let you all know, hopefully nothing massively expensive as its only done 24k miles! I only bought it yesterday so will ring the guy if anything is up! any other suggestions welcome

well if you have only had it a day its their issue to sort.....8)
 
Was bought from a dealer, deals from his own home but got finance through him etc and spoke to finance company and has sold a few cars and apparently reputable so shouldn't have an issue if there is something wrong!
 
Aux belt tensioner had gone, 160 quid the dealer is sorting it :smile: everything else on the car is good :smile: will go and do some pics today and upload later
